🕯️ Tonight, we light a candle for every baby loved and missed.

At 7pm, the teams at Doncaster Funerals and Direct Cremation South Yorkshire will join the Wave of Light, remembering babies who have died and the families who carry their love every day.

This evening feels particularly close to our hearts. We are currently caring for a baby and supporting their family, who will be very much in our thoughts. Our colleague Mel has also experienced the loss of her little boy and knows how deeply that love stays with you through the years.

To every family living with this loss: we know that no words can take away the ache of missing your baby. Tonight, we pause to remember alongside you.

If it feels right, light a candle at 7pm and let it shine for an hour. There is no need to find words or share your story—simply remembering is enough.

For the babies we never got to meet, those we held for only a little while, and every little life forever part of a family. 🤍

Funeral Notice

🩷 In Loving Memory of Skylar Katrina Jean McDermid-Smith 🩷

With the blessing of her family, we are sharing the funeral arrangements for beautiful little Skylar Katrina Jean McDermid-Smith, who passed away on 20th September 2026, aged just 4 months.

In such a short time, Skylar was deeply loved and brought so much love into the lives of those around her. Her loss is simply heartbreaking, and our thoughts remain with Gareth, Emily and all of their family as they face the unimaginable sadness of saying goodbye to their precious little girl.

Skylar’s funeral service will take place on Tuesday 27th October at 1:00pm at Rose Hill Cemetery Chapel, followed by a graveside committal at Arksey Cemetery at 2:00pm.

Afterwards, the family will be gathering at The Top Club, Millgate, Bentley.

Anyone who would like to attend, pay their respects and show their support to Gareth, Emily and the family will be very warmly welcomed.

The family have asked that those attending wear bright colours in Skylar’s memory — a gentle reflection of the light and love she brought into their lives. 🌈🩷

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help the family raise funds towards a headstone for Skylar, creating a beautiful and lasting place where they can visit, remember and feel close to her.

🩷💙 Baby Loss Awareness Week | 9–15 October 💙🩷
There are some lives, however short, that leave an immeasurable mark on the people who love them.

This Baby Loss Awareness Week, we remember every baby lost through miscarriage, stillbirth or during infancy, and we hold in our thoughts the parents, siblings, grandparents and families whose lives have been changed by that loss.

This is something that is especially close to our hearts at Doncaster Funerals. Our colleague Mel knows personally the heartbreak of losing a baby, having lost her little boy Cameron in infancy.

Mel will be attending the Special Memories Service at Doncaster Royal Infirmary this Sunday at 6pm, joining other families in remembering babies who are loved, missed and never forgotten. 🕯️

We are sharing the hospital’s details below for anyone who may find comfort in attending.

Throughout Baby Loss Awareness Week, we also remember that grief has no timetable. Whether a loss was recent or many years ago, that baby remains part of a family’s story.

The two bright bunches of roses on Eileen’s coffin represented the love and devotion of her husband and son. She was the centre of their world providing the most loving of homes, advice and support whenever it was needed, and the tastiest of meals. As well as sharing poetry and memories we enjoyed some of the music she loved too.💞

Stacey and I were honoured to support them in the intimate chapel at Doncaster Funerals. They took the time before and after the service to sit with Eileen and share their memories. 💞

We said goodbye to Grixy today - and the chapel told you everything about the life he lived. Standing room only, every seat taken and more besides, as family, friends and his huge circle from the clubbing scene came together. We celebrated a man who was larger than life, master of losing his trainers, and loving and loyal to those closest to him. 💞

I was honoured to support family and friends celebrate his life alongside Sym, Mel & Stacey from Doncaster Funerals at Memoria Doncaster & South Yorkshire Memorial Park & Crematorium ✨

2026 Memoria Doncaster Crematorium Open Day.

We are pleased to announce our annual Open Day on Saturday 19th September, from 10am to 2pm.

Everyone is welcome to come and join us for a tour of the Cremation facility, Chapel and Memorial Gardens.

Our friendly staff will be on hand to answer questions, including regarding the cremation process, what happens during a Funeral Service and Memorial options.

The Chapel will also be open for viewing and there will be free refreshments served.

We also have some of our local Funeral Directiors and Funeral Celebrants present who will be happy to handle any queries.
