There was a wonderful turn out for John the Joiner at Rose Hill Cemetery today…his family, neighbours, friends from The Salutation Doncaster and his many clients. We told his story with love and honesty, listened to music he enjoyed and gently laid him to rest. There was no mistaking his two favourite tipples. 🍺 🥃

It was an honour to support his family alongside Sym and the team from Doncaster Funerals.

We were proud to support our sister company Direct Cremation South Yorkshire in fulfilling a very special final wish ❤️🐾

A lady’s final request was simply for a dog to be present at her farewell — and thanks to Mel and her beautiful dog Reggie, that wish was honoured with care and compassion.

Because every goodbye should be personal.

Every farewell is personal, and we believe every final wish deserves to be honoured with care and compassion. ❤️🐾

Today, we carried out a direct cremation for a lady whose final request was simply that a dog be present on the day of her farewell. Her solicitor specifically searched for a funeral home that could fulfil that wish — and we were honoured to help.

Mel, alongside her beloved dog, Reggie, was able to ensure that request became a reality, bringing comfort and dignity to a truly personal goodbye.

No matter how unique a request may seem, we will always do our very best to ensure people’s final wishes are respected and carried out with kindness.

Funeral Notice

With heavy hearts, we announce the sad passing of Shaun Hone 'Boney', who passed away peacefully with his family by his side on 15th May 2026.

Shaun was a dearly loved Partner, Dad, Son, Brother, Grandad, Uncle and loyal friend to so many. Known for his sharp sense of humour and straight-talking nature, Shaun was never afraid to say exactly what he thought. He loved a laugh, loved winding people up, and could light up any room with his character. Boney will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A celebration of Shaun’s life will be held on Tuesday 16th June at 2:00pm at St Kathrine's Church, Loversall, followed by a graveside committal.

Family and friends are then invited to join together at The Comrades Club to share memories, stories and raise a glass in Shaun’s honour.

Forever loved, forever remembered. Sleep peacefully Boney 💙

Today, we remember Cameron on the 23rd anniversary of his passing. 💙

As our friend and colleague at Doncaster Funerals & Direct Cremation South Yorkshire, Mel is someone many families will know for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering support during some of life’s most difficult moments.

There are moments in life that shape a person forever, and while no parent should ever have to endure the loss of a child, Mel has carried Cameron’s memory with incredible strength, love, and courage over the past 23 years.

Anyone who knows Mel will know what an extraordinary person she is. Through her own experiences, she has brought comfort, understanding, and genuine care to so many people, helping families feel supported when they need it most.

Mel is not only a hugely valued colleague and an incredible asset to our teams, but also someone whose warmth and compassion leave a lasting impact on everyone she meets. The care she gives to others truly comes from the heart, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she does.

Saying farewell to George at Doncaster Funerals chapel yesterday was so personal. He’d selected the music and asked us not to wear black. His family added two flags representing his years of dedicated service to Queen and country to add to his cap and the medals his cadet great grandson placed on his coffin. Flowers from his wife and soulmate of the last 69 years honoured their love. His youngest daughter shared the Ode to Remembrance; two of his great granddaughters shared heartfelt tributes. A veteran paratrooper read the Airborne Prayer and saluted this very special man. It was an honour for Mel and me to support this lovely family for a second time. 💞
