Doncaster Funerals are saddened to announce the passing of

Anthony "Tony" Straw
who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 9th June 2026.

Tony was a much-loved Dad, Grandad, Brother, Uncle, Companion and a treasured friend to many. A family man through and through, he touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him with his warmth, humour, kindness and unwavering loyalty.

To his fishing pals, Tony was simply known as "The Legend" – a title earned through years of friendship, laughter, stories and countless hours spent doing what he loved. His larger-than-life presence, quick wit and generous spirit made him unforgettable.

Although Tony had been living with illness, his passing has come as a great shock to his family and friends. The love he gave and the memories he created will remain with those who knew him forever. He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship and family that will continue to inspire all whose lives he touched.

Tony will be deeply missed and fondly remembered every day.

A Celebration of Tony's Life will take place at Grenoside Crematorium South on Monday 6th July 2026 at 12:30pm.

Family and friends are warmly invited to continue sharing memories and celebrating Tony's life afterwards at The Top Red Lion.

"Legends never truly leave us – they live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the memories we hold close."

There was a wonderful turn out for John the Joiner at Rose Hill Cemetery today…his family, neighbours, friends from The Salutation Doncaster and his many clients. We told his story with love and honesty, listened to music he enjoyed and gently laid him to rest. There was no mistaking his two favourite tipples. 🍺 🥃

It was an honour to support his family alongside Sym and the team from Doncaster Funerals.

We were proud to support our sister company Direct Cremation South Yorkshire in fulfilling a very special final wish ❤️🐾

A lady’s final request was simply for a dog to be present at her farewell — and thanks to Mel and her beautiful dog Reggie, that wish was honoured with care and compassion.

Because every goodbye should be personal.

Every farewell is personal, and we believe every final wish deserves to be honoured with care and compassion. ❤️🐾

Today, we carried out a direct cremation for a lady whose final request was simply that a dog be present on the day of her farewell. Her solicitor specifically searched for a funeral home that could fulfil that wish — and we were honoured to help.

Mel, alongside her beloved dog, Reggie, was able to ensure that request became a reality, bringing comfort and dignity to a truly personal goodbye.

No matter how unique a request may seem, we will always do our very best to ensure people’s final wishes are respected and carried out with kindness.
