🖤 A VERY SPECIAL DAY FOR OUR LITTLE WORK FAMILY… 🖤

On Friday 11th September, the offices of Doncaster Funerals and Direct Cremation South Yorkshire will be closed for a very special reason…

💍 Our Mel is getting married! 🤍

Those who have met or spoken with Mel will know just how much of herself she gives to the families we look after. Day in, day out, she is there to offer a kind word, a reassuring voice, a listening ear and, quite often, a much-needed hug.

So, on this particular Friday, it’s our turn to be there for her. ❤️

After all the planning, excitement and counting down, Mel and Carl will finally be saying “I do”, surrounded by the people they love — and we wouldn’t miss it for the world.

For one very special day, we’ll be swapping our usual work attire for our wedding best and coming together to celebrate Mel & Carl as they begin this wonderful new chapter. 🥂🤍

Both offices will reopen as normal on Monday 14th September.

We know, however, that bereavement doesn’t stop for weddings or weekends. Our telephone line will remain available for families who need our assistance, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need us.

We hope all the families we have had the privilege of meeting over the years will join us in wishing Mel & Carl the most wonderful wedding day and a lifetime filled with love, laughter and happiness. 💍🤍

🖤 Did you know… not all direct funerals are cremations?

Today, Direct Cremation South Yorkshire carried out a direct burial, with a small number of family members present to say their final goodbyes at the graveside.

When people hear the words direct funeral, they often automatically think of a direct cremation – but that doesn’t have to be the case.

A direct burial can offer families a simple, dignified alternative to a traditional funeral service, without all the additional elements and expense that come with a full funeral.

For today’s family, it meant a quiet and personal farewell, with their loved one laid to rest and those closest to them able to be there.

Because saying goodbye doesn’t have to follow a set format. 🖤

🖤 A little bit of lovely news for our team…

We’re incredibly proud to share that Direct Cremation South Yorkshire has been named a finalist in the Good Funeral Awards 2026 for Low Cost Funeral Provider of the Year.

But more than the award itself, what means the most to us is knowing that people took the time to nominate us.

To every family who has trusted us with someone they love, everyone who has recommended us to another family, shared our name or simply supported what we are trying to do — thank you, genuinely.

We started Direct Cremation South Yorkshire because we believed that keeping funeral costs affordable should never mean compromising on care.

Behind every funeral is a person who mattered to someone. Whether a family chooses the simplest direct cremation or something more traditional, the care, dignity and respect we give their loved one should always be exactly the same.

We’re a small, independent team and we put a huge amount of heart into what we do, so to find out that we have reached the finals of the Good Funeral Awards 2026 is incredibly special.

Some goodbyes are loud.

We held a loving and very personal farewell for Eddie at Direct Cremation South Yorkshire’s chapel. Originally the family wanted just a direct cremation but we were able to offer them the opportunity to say goodbye more fully. Remembered with music, poetry, a slideshow, a lovely tribute from his stepchildren, and beautiful flowers.

Mel and I were honoured to care for all his family and friends. ✨
