⚠️ Please Respond to NHS or PCSE Registration Letters πŸ“©

From time to time, you may receive a letter from NHS England or Primary Care Support England (PCSE) asking you to confirm your registration details. This is part of a routine process to ensure GP records are accurate across England.

If you or someone you care for receives one of these letters, please do NOT ignore it. If we cannot verify your address, your GP registration could be affected. Please phone the surgery to ensure you remain registered with the practice and continue to receive important invitations such as screening and vaccinations.

If you have recently moved house or your contact details have changed, please let us know as soon as possible so we can keep your records up to date. 😊

πŸ“… Save the Date – Flu Vaccination Clinics πŸ“…

Our annual flu vaccination clinics will be taking place on the first two weekends in October!

Getting your flu vaccine is one of the safest and most effective ways to protect yourself and those around you against seasonal influenza.

If you are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination, please keep an eye out for your invitation, which will be sent by text message during September. Once you receive your invitation, you'll be able to book your appointment at one of our weekend clinics.

We look forward to seeing our eligible patients at the clinics in October!

🌞 Stay safe in the hot weather 🌞

With the hot weather continuing and Dorset officially in drought, it's important to take extra care of yourself and those around you.

πŸ’§ Drink plenty of fluids and limit your alcohol intake
🏑 Keep your home cool by closing curtains that face the sun and opening windows when it's cooler outside
😎 Avoid the sun during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm) and, if you do go out, cover up with suitable clothing, wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and apply sunscreen liberally
πŸ‘΅πŸ‘Ά Check in on family, friends and neighbours who may be at higher risk of becoming unwell

If you feel weak, faint, have a headache, feel sick, or are sweating heavily, these could be symptoms of heat exhaustion. Move to a cooler place, drink cool water, and cool your skin.

Symptoms of heatstroke include: confusion, lack of co-ordination, fast heartbeat, fast breathing or shortness of breath, hot skin that is not sweating, seizures. Heatstroke is a medical emergency. If you think someone has heatstroke you should dial 999 and then try to cool them down.

For more advice on staying safe in hot weather, visit the UK Health Security Agency guidance πŸ‘‡

🚫 Missed Appointments Matter 🚫

In July, we had 56 missed appointments, adding up to over 18 HOURS of wasted clinical time. We have seen a concerning rise in missed appointments over the last few months. And this is more than DOUBLE the number of appointments missed in the same month last year.

If you can’t attend your appointment, PLEASE let us know as soon as possible, even if it’s only a few hours beforehand. This allows us to offer the slot to another patient who is waiting to be seen.

By cancelling appointments you no longer need, you’re helping us make the most of precious NHS resources. Thank you for your support πŸ’™

βš•οΈ Young people urged to book meningitis jab βš•οΈ

Hundreds of thousands of students heading to university this autumn are being urged by the NHS to book a potentially lifesaving MenB vaccine before term starts.

Appointments to get the jab can now be booked at HIGH STREET PHARMACIES across England (please note: the surgery does NOT offer MenB jabs for this age group).

Eligible students will need 2 doses of the MenB vaccine for protection, given at least 4 weeks apart, with the first being offered from 20 July 2026 and the second dose from August.

You are eligible for the MenB vaccination if you were born on or after 21 July 2001, and for the first time this autumn you are:

πŸŽ“ starting university
πŸŽ“ starting at some further education colleges as a residential student

You'll need to bring evidence of your university or college offer.

Book, change or cancel a MenB vaccination appointment online.
