🏇 And they’re off! 🏇

Our residents had a brilliant time getting competitive with our fantastic horse racing game, rolling the giant dice and racing their horses around the course! 🎲

A huge thank you to our talented Activity Coordinator Shirley, who created this wonderful racecourse herself. There was some friendly rivalry as everyone cheered their horses towards the finish line! 🏆

Last Night of the Proms at Glencairn House! 🎶🇬🇧

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome the wonderful soprano Penelope Appleyard and pianist Jonathan Delbridge for the grand finale of our Glencairn Proms!

Residents enjoyed a fabulous programme ranging from O mio babbino caro to I Could Have Danced All Night from My Fair Lady, before joining in with rousing Proms favourites Rule, Britannia!, Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem. 🇬🇧

Afterwards, the celebrations continued with canapés and a glass of bubbles, while Penelope and Jonathan spent time chatting with our residents. 🥂

A truly joyful afternoon and a wonderful finale to our Proms series, bringing the magic of live music right into the heart of our home. ❤️

Knit and Natter!🧶

Our lounge was a lovely hub of activity this morning, with residents enjoying our ever-popular Knit & Natter group alongside lots of other activities.

Plenty of knitting, reminiscing and laughter, a wonderfully relaxed morning spent together.

Pop over, even if you’re not a resident as we welcome everyone to join us for a fun filled morning every other Tuesday, our next one is on the 2nd of September ✨

Kath, Charles and Jonathan delighted everyone with their wonderful performance of Lerner and Loewe’s “Almost Like Being in Love” from the much-loved musical Brigadoon. 🎵

Glencairn Proms 2026 🎶

What a wonderful morning of live music we enjoyed today as part of our Classical Music Series!

We were delighted to welcome Kathy on flute, Charles on cello and Jonathan on piano, who treated us to a beautifully varied programme featuring music by composers including Camille Saint-Saëns, J.S. Bach and George Gershwin.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the concert, and it was lovely to see everyone gathered together listening to such talented musicians. A huge thank you to Kathy, Charles and Jonathan for giving their time and bringing such a special morning of music to Glencairn.

We also had a very special four-legged guest, Tilly, their beautiful Golden Retriever! 🐾 She was a very welcome addition to the morning and, unsurprisingly, proved rather popular!

A splash of colour at Glencairn! 🎨

Our residents had a fantastic time getting creative by painting plaster of Paris shapes, including colourful flowers, buzzing honeybees and adorable owls.

It was a lovely morning filled with creativity! Activities like these are a wonderful way to encourage self-expression while bringing everyone together.

We think the finished creations look amazing, well done to all our talented artists! 🎨✨

What a lovely afternoon at our Summer Party yesterday! 💛

We were treated to fantastic entertainment from Chelsea Ball and Professor Gary Wilson’s Punch & Judy show, enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch, and cooled off with ice creams from Mitchell’s of Dorset. 🍦🌭🎭

We’re also so pleased to have raised £100 for Pets as Therapy, thank you to everyone who donated! 🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a special day!

Game, Set, Match! 🎾

Our residents have been getting into the Wimbledon spirit with a fun game of table tennis! It was a brilliant activity for laughter, movement and competitive spirit!

A great way to enjoy a bit of gentle exercise while celebrating Wimbledon 2026 - something many of our residents love to follow.

Yesterday we enjoyed a trip over to Borough Gardens for Swing Time in the Park! 🎶

Our residents had a lovely afternoon listening to the local big band in the sunshine, enjoying a picnic together, admiring the beautiful flowers and making the most of the glorious weather. 🌸

There was also a vintage car rally, which sparked lots of memories and conversation. Residents really enjoyed looking at the cars and reminiscing about the ones they remembered from growing up!

It was also a great pleasure to support Fortuneswell Cancer Charity at such a well-organised and enjoyable community event. A really lovely afternoon was had by all. 💛
