🎨 Stage Two… Susan’s On The Paintbrush! πŸ’š

Our Downsvale wall art is growing! πŸ₯°

After Jean got things started with Daisy on Stage One, our lovely Susan has now picked up the paintbrush for Stage Two β€” adding her own contribution to our stencil wall art. 🎨🌿

We absolutely love that this is becoming a little team project, with our residents helping to create something that will become part of their home.

And judging by that photo… we think Susan and Daisy are pretty pleased with their handiwork! πŸ˜‚πŸ’—

Stage Two: COMPLETE βœ”οΈ

Who’s getting the paintbrush next, we wonder? πŸ‘€πŸŽ¨

A huge thank you to Daisy for coming up with such a lovely idea and making sure our residents are right at the heart of creating it. πŸ’—

🎨 Jean’s Leaving Her Mark at Downsvale πŸ’—

Our lovely Jean has been getting creative with Daisy, helping to add a very special bit of artwork to the walls at Downsvale. πŸ₯°

Using stencils, Jean has been busy painting the first part of their new wall design β€” and we think she's done a brilliant job! πŸŽ¨πŸ‘

We love finding different ways for our residents to get involved in making Downsvale feel like home, and there's something extra special about knowing Jean's artwork will become part of it. πŸ’—

Stage one: COMPLETE! βœ”οΈ

Now we can't wait to see what Jean and Daisy have planned for the next bit… πŸ‘€πŸŽ¨

A big thank you to Daisy for another lovely activity and, of course, to our resident artist Jean! πŸ’—

🎢 A Special Church Service at Downsvale πŸ™πŸΌ

There was plenty of singing at Downsvale as residents enjoyed a lovely church service together. πŸ’—

With familiar hymns to sing along to, readings and passages to listen to and time spent together, it was a peaceful and uplifting session enjoyed by everyone who chose to take part.

For many of our residents, faith and familiar traditions have been an important part of life for many years, so being able to continue enjoying these moments at Downsvale can mean so much. πŸ₯°

A big thank you to our visitors for spending time with us and bringing the service into our home. πŸ’—

🧩 100 Pieces… Completed! πŸ’—

Our lovely Vivien has been busy putting her puzzle skills to the test, working her way through this colourful 100-piece puzzle β€” and just look at the finished result! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Piece by piece, Vivien kept going until every last one was in its place… followed, of course, by a very well-deserved double thumbs-up! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ₯°

Puzzles are always a favourite at Downsvale, offering a relaxing way to keep the mind active, encourage concentration and enjoy that wonderful feeling of accomplishment when the final piece goes in.

Well done, Vivien β€” absolutely smashed it! πŸ§©πŸ’—

🏐 Ready When Your Name Is Called!

Sahil was back with the beach ball for another one of our residents' favourite games β€” and just look at those reactions! πŸ‘πŸ˜‚

The rules are simple: Sahil calls a name, sends the ball their way… and they've got to be ready to send it straight back!

Mary, Susan, John, Jean and Richard were certainly keeping him on his toes. πŸ’ͺπŸ’—

It might look like a simple bit of fun, but games like this are a brilliant way to encourage listening, concentration, coordination, movement and quick reactions β€” all from the comfort of a chair.

And judging by how good our residents are getting at it, we think Sahil might need to up his game. πŸ˜‚πŸ

A huge thank you to Sahil for keeping everyone moving, engaged and smiling. πŸ’—

🧩 Friendships & Puzzles πŸ’—

Sometimes, it's not really about finding the right piece… it's about the company you keep while you're looking for it. πŸ₯°

Our residents have been enjoying some time together over a jigsaw puzzle, sharing ideas, helping each other hunt for those elusive pieces and, most importantly, enjoying each other's company.

Activities like puzzles are wonderful for encouraging concentration, problem-solving and keeping the mind active, but we think there's another benefit that's just as important β€” the conversations, laughter and friendships that grow around the table. πŸ’—

Because at Downsvale, some of the loveliest moments happen in the simplest ways. 🧩✨

🐟 Draw Along Fun At Downsvale! ✏️

Pens at the ready… and eyes on the screen! πŸ‘€πŸŽ¨

Our residents recently followed a step-by-step YouTube tutorial showing them how to draw a fish, building their pictures one line at a time.

Just look at Vivian proudly showing off her finished fish β€” complete with scales, fins and bubbles! πŸŸπŸ‘πŸΌ

Vicky and Norma are completely engrossed in creating theirs, carefully following each step and adding their own finishing touches. ❀️

It might look like a simple bit of drawing, but activities like this encourage concentration, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and creativity β€” while giving everyone that lovely sense of achievement when they see what they've created.

And the best bit? Every fish was completely different! πŸ₯°

Fantastic work, Vivian, Vicky and Norma β€” Downsvale's resident artists have done it again! 🎨🐠

πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Chair Yoga With Norma πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

Who says you need to stand up to get moving? πŸ’ͺ🏼

Norma enjoyed a spot of chair yoga, following along with the exercises and giving every movement her best β€” with that wonderful smile making an appearance too! ❀️

Chair-based exercise is a lovely way for our residents to keep moving at a level that feels comfortable for them. Gentle movement can help support flexibility, mobility and coordination, while also being a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend some time.

And judging by these photos, Norma absolutely smashed it! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ₯°

At Downsvale, it's never about what you can't do β€” it's about finding enjoyable ways to keep doing the things you can. ❀️

🎢 Look Who’s Back! 🎢

There was a very familiar face back at Downsvale this week… the amazing Franz! ❀️

Our residents were absolutely delighted to welcome Franz back for another afternoon of music, singing, laughter and plenty of entertainment.

And of course, Franz didn't disappoint! πŸŽΆπŸ•Ί

Singing, dancing, plenty of laughs and those now legendary Franz moves β€” including the high kicks! πŸ˜‚

His energy is infectious, and seeing our residents singing along, smiling and enjoying every minute is exactly what afternoons like this are all about.

There were smiles all around, lots of familiar songs and plenty of those wonderful little moments that make afternoons like this so special.

A huge thank you to Franz for coming back to entertain us β€” it's always an absolute pleasure having you at Downsvale and judging by those smiles, our residents certainly agree. πŸ’™

We can't wait to have you back again!

πŸ’ THINGS GOT COMPETITIVE AT DOWNSVALE! πŸ˜‚

Who knew a game of table-top ice hockey and ball tapping could bring out such a competitive streak?!

Our residents had great fun going head-to-head, batting the puck across the projected rink, defending their goals and β€” most importantly β€” keeping a VERY close eye on that scoreboard! πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚

Activities like this aren't just brilliant fun. They encourage movement, hand-eye coordination, concentration and social interaction β€” with a healthy dose of friendly competition thrown in too! πŸ’™

There were some seriously determined faces around the table... safe to say, nobody was letting the other side win easily! πŸ˜‚πŸ’

Just another fun-filled afternoon at Downsvale, bringing everyone together and proving you're never too old for a bit of competitive spirit! πŸ’ͺ🏼
