When people visit a hospital, they rarely think about emergency equipment checks. Patients expect emergency equipment to be available, fully stocked and ready to use at a moment's notice. However, a special role behind the scenes makes sure that expectation becomes a reality.

In this episode of The Right Chamber, hosts Dr Jasprit Kaur and Dr Victor Adeyera sit down with Anna-Marie Limb from The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust's Deteriorating Patient Team to explore one of the NHS's least visible yet most important roles.

Some people leave a job. Others leave a legacy.

Yesterday, colleagues from across The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust came together to celebrate Kate Holmes and an extraordinary 37-year career.

From her first role in 1989 to her leadership within medical education, Kate's journey has touched almost every corner of the organisation. Along the way, she became so much more than a colleague to many people. She became a mentor, a source of support, a trusted friend and a familiar face who was always willing to help.

The stories shared during the afternoon painted a picture of someone who worked incredibly hard, treated everyone with kindness and quietly made a difference wherever she went.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of medical students and resident doctors have benefited from Kate's support over the last few years alone. That impact will continue long after her final day.

Thank you, Kate, for 37 years of dedication, friendship and service.

Enjoy every minute of your retirement. You've certainly earned it.

As one chapter comes to a close, another begins.

Today marks the end of an incredible journey for many of our Clinical Teaching Fellows here at the Ron Grimley Undergraduate Centre.

Over the past 12 months, Matt, Zarin, Samsul, Alex, Charlotte, Cassie, Jasprit and Victor have each played an important part in supporting the education of medical students, helping shape the next generation of doctors through their teaching, mentorship and enthusiasm. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom and clinical environment, and they'll leave a lasting legacy within our undergraduate programme.

It's been a genuine privilege to work alongside them. Whether it was mapping curriculum resources, producing The Right Chamber, developing new ideas or simply sharing plenty of laughs along the way, they've been an incredibly supportive, talented and enjoyable group to work with.

As they all move on to exciting new opportunities, we wish them every success in the next stage of their careers.

While we're saying goodbye to many familiar faces, we're also delighted that Yash and Maymunah will be staying with us for another 12 months. We're looking forward to another year of working together and continuing to build on everything this fantastic group has achieved.

To all of our departing Clinical Teaching Fellows, thank you for your passion, your commitment to medical education, your friendship and the difference you've made to so many students and colleagues.

We wish you every success for the future.

We're incredibly proud to share that the Dudley Group Medical Education Team has been named Non-Clinical Team of the Year at the 2026 Committed to Excellence Awards! 🎉

This award recognises an amazing team of colleagues from Undergraduate Medical Education, Postgraduate Medical Education, Clinical Education, Simulation, and Digital Media, all working together to support the education and development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.

While much of our work happens behind the scenes, it's all focused on creating the very best learning experience for our medical students and resident doctors. From coordinating placements and supporting teaching, to delivering simulation training and producing innovative digital learning resources, every member of the team plays an important role.

We're especially proud that this recognition comes in the same year that the Ron Grimley Undergraduate Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary. For two decades, the Centre has been dedicated to supporting medical education at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, and this award is a wonderful reflection of the commitment, passion and teamwork that continues today.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of that journey over the past 20 years, and congratulations to every member of the Medical Education Team on this fantastic achievement. We're incredibly proud of what we've accomplished together.
