Turtle Tots West Glasgow & Renfrewshire

Turtle Tots West Glasgow & Renfrewshire Turtle Tots is an innovative and fun baby and pre-school swimming programme. You can join our programme at any stage.

Turtle Tots is an innovative and unique swimming programme, which begins during pregnancy and continues once your baby is born. Mums-to-be can join our Turtle Tums aquanatal yoga classes which help you prepare for pregnancy and birth. Once your baby is born you can join our Turtle Tots and Turtle Toddlers programme which teaches you how to teach your child to swim in a relaxed and sociable environ

ment. All our programmes have been devised in conjunction with a personal trainer to ensure that mums (and dads!) receive a work-out while swimming with their babies to help with post-natal fitness and well-being. If you are interested and want to find out about classes in your area please contact me.

Some reasons you might not have thought about when booking swimming lessons for your baby or toddler…

One of the biggest is this: you’re helping them build skills for the years when you won’t always be right beside them.
When they’re little, you’re the one holding their hand at the pool, the beach or beside the water.
But one day, they’ll be older. They’ll be out with friends. They’ll make their own decisions.

And being safe around water isn’t only about whether someone can swim. Open water can bring cold water shock, currents, tides, changing depths and hazards you simply can’t see.
That’s why we want children to grow up not just enjoying the water, but understanding it, respecting it and feeling confident enough to respond calmly.

The skills start small- holding on, turning, floating, listening, learning how their body feels in the water- but they’re part of something much bigger.

Swimming lessons are for now. Water confidence and awareness are for life.

A big good luck to all the little ones heading off to Primary 1 over the next few days! 🎒✏️
We know there’ll be lots of excitement, a few nerves (from the grown-ups too!) and probably plenty of photos at the front door. 🥹

It’s especially lovely knowing that some of the little swimmers we’ve watched grow in confidence in the pool over the years are now heading off on their next big adventure.
And good luck to all the big brothers and sisters heading back to school too- we hope you have a brilliant first day and a lovely year ahead.

The school bags are coming back out, the holidays are nearly over (or already over for some of you!) and suddenly we’re all remembering what day of the week it is again. 😅

And we’re back in the pool too!
Our new Turtle Tots term is underway, and we can’t wait to see lots of familiar little faces back in the water- as well as welcome some brand new swimmers. 💚

If you’ve been thinking about adding swimming to your weekly routine, we still have limited spaces available in selected classes across West Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Loch Lomond and Drymen.

Fun, water confidence, important safety skills and a little bit of one-to-one time together each week.
Some classes are almost full, so if swimming has been on your “we really need to start that” list, now’s a good time!

Drop us an email and we can help you find the right class, or book your space online.

There’s something really special about welcoming a family back to the pool with baby number two, or three!
Over the years, we’ve had lots of parents come through Turtle Tots with their first baby… and then a few years later, they’re back again with a new little swimmer. And even better when they find themselves back with the same teacher! One mum shared this lovely message about Stacey:

“Stacey taught my oldest daughter when she was a baby and is now teaching my youngest. She is fantastic at getting babies and children to engage and has such a kind and gentle nature.”

Our teachers get to know the little personalities in their classes (and the parents too!), so it’s lovely when we get to be part of a family’s swimming journey all over again.
From first toes in the water with one baby to coming back and doing it all again with their little brother or sister.

Have we taught more than one little swimmer in your family? Tell us below- we’d love to know!

Have you ever wondered what actually happens during a Turtle Tots lesson?
Well there are songs, games and plenty of splashing, but every activity also has a purpose.
Depending on your child’s age and stage, they may practise:

- Holding on safely
- Floating on their front or back
- Kicking and moving through the water
- Entering and exiting the pool safely
- Building confidence underwater when they’re ready
- Early independent swimming skills

Our programme is structured, but our teachers are always ready to adapt each activity to suit the children in front of them.
Some weeks your little one may be full of confidence. Other weeks they may need more reassurance and cuddles. That’s all part of learning.

We’re not simply teaching children how to swim. We’re helping them feel happy, confident and safer around water. Our lessons are held at four venues across West Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Loch Lomond. We teach babies and children from 12 weeks up to 5 years.

Your child doesn’t need to love the water on their very first lesson.
Some babies splash and smile straight away, while others hold on tightly, watch everything carefully or need a few lessons before they begin to relax.

Both are completely normal.

Turtle Tots lessons are gentle, supportive and child-led. We never expect every child to react in the same way, and we won’t rush them into doing something they’re not ready for.
Instead, we help them gradually build trust, confidence and familiarity with the water.
Each small step matters- watching, reaching for a toy, kicking their legs, letting go for just a moment.

Confidence doesn’t always arrive with a big splash. Sometimes it grows gently, one lesson at a time

Starting Turtle Tots this week? Here’s what you need to know before your first class.
Bring:
💦 A swim nappy and Happy Nappy
💦 Towels for you both
💦 Your swimwear
💦 A bottle or snack for afterwards

Feeding your baby around 30-60 minutes before class is usually ideal, so they’re not hungry but don’t have a very full tummy.
And please don’t worry if your baby cries, clings to you or takes a little while to settle. The pool is full of new sights, sounds and sensations, and we’ll always go at your child’s pace.

You don’t need to be a confident swimmer either. You’ll be able to stand throughout the lesson, with your teacher there to guide you.
We can’t wait to welcome you both to the pool this week.

Still have a question? Pop us a message or email [email protected].

Our Summer Swim Camp starts this week! ☀️💦
Five days of swimming, confidence building, water safety and plenty of fun at Buchanan Arms in Drymen.

Swimming several days in a row gives children the chance to practise their skills, grow in confidence and become more comfortable in the water over the school holidays.

It’s also a brilliant way to keep them active, give them something fun to look forward to and help prepare them for future swimming lessons.
We have a few spaces left, so send us an email to check availability, ([email protected]) or use the link below to book.
