The Meallmore Colleague Awards 2026 are open, and Michelle has a message for residents, families, friends, colleagues and visiting professionals.

These awards are open to everyone to nominate.

So, if there is someone in our home who has made a difference, gone the extra mile, brought kindness to someone’s day, or helped make the home feel warm, welcoming and full of life, now is the time to tell us. 💚

And every role across Meallmore can be recognised.

🎭✨ Carnival Day at Alderwood! ✨🎭

What a fantastic day of fun, creativity and laughter our residents enjoyed at Alderwood! 🎉💜

The celebrations were in full swing as residents got creative designing their own colourful carnival masks, took part in exciting bean bag games, and enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts activities. There were some impressive skills on display, with residents winning prizes during the games. 🏆👏

To keep everyone refreshed, there was a delicious selection of fresh fruit alongside some sweet treats for residents to enjoy throughout the day.

While the Scottish summer weather had other ideas, it certainly didn't dampen our spirits! The fun, laughter and carnival atmosphere continued well into the evening, creating lots of wonderful memories for everyone involved.

A huge well done to all our residents for taking part and making the day so special. We loved seeing everyone's creativity, enthusiasm and smiles throughout the celebrations. ❤️

Our residents were delighted to enjoy a special treat when the local ice cream van paid a visit to Alderwood House Care Home!

With the sunshine shining brightly, there was no better way to cool down than with a delicious ice cream enjoyed in great company 🍦☀️

A special thank you goes to our colleague Traceyann, who organised the visit and helped create such a memorable experience for everyone. Residents had a wonderful time choosing their favourite flavours, sharing smiles, and making the most of a beautiful summer day 🍨

Sometimes it's the simple treats that bring the biggest smiles, and this was certainly one of those occasions! 💛

When the heat became a bit too much, we had the perfect solution — a glow‑in‑the‑dark disco to help everyone stay cool and have a brilliant time! 💛💡

Residents enjoyed neon face paint, icy drinks, and plenty of retro beats, dancing under the blacklights and filling the room with colour, laughter and energy. The atmosphere was electric, and the smiles said it all! 🎶✨

Nights like these remind us how much joy a little creativity can bring — cool vibes, glowing lights and wonderful company 🌼💙

There’s nothing better than making the most of the sunshine, and our residents and colleagues have been doing just that! We’ve been enjoying garden games, delicious bites to eat, and plenty of laughter as we spent time together outdoors 💛🎉

Our spacious courtyard is the perfect spot for warm‑weather activities, and it’s wonderful to see how much our residents enjoy being out in the fresh air. With the sunshine finally here, we’re ready for even more fun, friendship and summertime moments ☀️

🍎🌼 Healthy Habits at Alderwood House! 🌼🍎

At Alderwood House, we’ve been exploring new ways to stay happy, healthy and well, and our latest Residents’ Meeting sparked a brilliant idea! Together, we chatted about healthier diets and agreed we’d like to learn more about making positive choices that support our wellbeing 💛✨

This led to a lively and colourful fruit‑tasting session, where residents sampled a range of delicious fruits and discovered how each one can help our brains and bodies. There were lots of smiles, curious conversations and even a few new favourites found along the way 🍓🍊🍇

It was a simple but meaningful activity that encouraged choice, learning and connection — and we’d love for you to take a little wellbeing tip from it too 🌿

What does it actually mean to be a nurse?

Not the job description.
Not the uniform.
Not the “no two days are the same” line.

The real answer.

For International Nurses Day 2026, we sat down with nurses from across Meallmore and asked them a few simple questions about what nursing means to them.

Their answers said everything.

It’s compassion when someone needs reassurance.
It’s clinical skill when decisions matter.
It’s patience on the difficult days.
It’s leadership when a team needs guidance.
It’s knowing someone’s routine, their family, their worries, their sense of humour.

In care homes, nurses do so much more than deliver care.

They build trust.
They support families.
They lead teams.
They protect dignity.
They help make our homes feel like home.

So today, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible nurses across Meallmore who bring their knowledge, kindness and calm presence into our homes every single day.

A fitting tribute to an amazing profession - and to the people who show what nursing really means. 💙

🍳 Cooking Up a Storm at Alderwood House! 🍳

There’s been lots of activity in our Skills Kitchen at Alderwood House, as residents enjoyed preparing their own breakfasts just the way they like them 💛

From choosing what to cook to getting hands‑on in the kitchen, everyone took part with enthusiasm - and the happy smiles all round said it all 😊

Supporting independence, choice and everyday life skills is such an important part of life here, and the results looked absolutely delicious!

Well done to everyone involved - a brilliant way to start the day 🌟
