Most people know exercise is good for their heart and their mental wellbeing. But it does a lot for your eyes, too.

Regular physical activity improves circulation throughout the body, including to the tiny blood vessels that supply your eyes. Over time, this can help reduce the risk of conditions like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

Taking care of your overall health and taking care of your vision really do go hand in hand.

If you would like personalised advice on protecting your eye health, our team is here to help: https://jarviseyecare.co.uk/contact-us/

Safe driving starts with clear, comfortable vision. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘“

The right lenses can help you see the road ahead, check your mirrors and glance at your dashboard with greater ease.

Adding an anti-reflective coating can help reduce distracting glare from headlights and bright sunlight, while a scratch-resistant coating helps maintain clear, crisp vision by protecting your lenses from everyday wear and tear.

Healthy contact lens wear starts with good daily habits and regular aftercare.

Routine contact lens check-ups allow us to monitor your eye health, check the fit of your lenses and ensure they're still the right choice for you.

Myopia (short-sightedness) is becoming increasingly common in children, and early intervention can make a significant difference to how it progresses.

At Jarvis Eyecare, we offer two specialist myopia management options, both clinically supervised by Ian, John and Elaine:

MiYOSMART lenses are spectacle lenses designed to slow myopia progression by up to 60%, fitting standard frames and looking just like ordinary glasses.

Nocturnals are worn overnight to gently reshape the cornea, allowing your child to see clearly throughout the day without glasses or contact lenses.

If you are over 50, a smoker, or have a family history of AMD, age-related macular degeneration is worth understanding.

It is the leading cause of sight loss in the UK for people over 50, gradually affecting the central part of the retina and making everyday tasks like reading, driving, or recognising faces more difficult.

In its early stages, there are often no symptoms at all. A thorough eye examination with OCT imaging is the most reliable way to detect changes before they progress.

The new school term is closer than it feels, and appointment slots fill up quickly this time of year.

Good vision gives children the confidence to learn, explore and thrive. Regular eye tests can help identify vision problems early, supporting their development both in and out of the classroom.

No glasses. No daytime contact lenses. Just clear, natural vision from the moment you wake up.

Nocturnal lenses are rigid Ortho-k contact lenses that are worn overnight to gently reshape the cornea while you sleep. By morning, the lenses come out and you are free to go about your day with unaided vision.

To find out if Nocturnal lenses are right for you, talk to our team: https://jarviseyecare.co.uk/contact-us/

Scottish schools return in August, and now is the ideal time to check that your child's vision is ready for the year ahead.

Children's eyesight can change quickly, and many problems go undetected until they begin to affect learning, concentration, or confidence in the classroom.

A children's eye examination at Jarvis Eye Care checks for:

- Short-sightedness and long-sightedness
- Astigmatism
- Lazy eye (amblyopia)
- Eye coordination and focusing difficulties
- Early signs of myopia progression
