Oak and Wildflower - Wild Wellness

Oak and Wildflower - Wild Wellness Promoting wellness and nature connection through herbal workshops, foraging walks and Wild Women's circles Hello and welcome! My name is Stef Stewart.
(1)

Oak and Wildflower is my business and life's passion, dedicated to supporting and empowering others to connect more deeply with nature to improve their mental and physical wellbeing. I call this, "wild wellness". I teach others what the earth provides, such as food and medicine and how we can live well in harmony with it, and learn from it. I do this through workshops, foraging and wellness walks

and Wild Women's Circles. I have a focus on herbal medicine and wild food knowledge, but also mindfulness and the healing powers of the universe and within ourselves. I have been learning the ways of western herbalism for around 6 years. I am continuing my studies through The Plant Medicine School Scotland's Apprenticeship in Community Herbal Medicine, and have previously taken courses with The Herbal Academy and Grass Roots Remedies, along with countless workshops. I am a current teacher member of the Association of Foragers, an international, professional foragers association. I am attuned to Reiki Level II (Energy Healing) and I'm currently completing my case studies to include Reiki therapy as part of my business, with hopes of opening my own practice in the second half of 2024. I have years of experience working in community organisations assisting vulnerable youths and adults experiencing homelessness, mental health and addictions issues, and physical and mental disabilities - I still work part-time in this field. I am a Trauma-Skilled trained, Walk-leader trained, certified in Emergency First Aid and Mental Health First Aid, ASIST Suicide Prevention certified, and hold an Honours Diploma in Social Service Work from Canada. My passion has, and always will be, helping others to live their most fulfilling, joyful life, no matter their circumstances. If you're interested in learning more, follow this page and my instagram for updates, or send me an email. Hope to see you soon!

Today is World Outlander Day πŸͺ¨πŸŒΏπŸ§Ί

What is that, you ask? A day to celebrate the series that means so much to so many fans. That may seem silly, but this show seems to have had such a profound effect on so many people's lives... And I'm one of them.

The series came to its finale just recently after 10 years. I actually felt a great sense of loss after watching the last episode. The end of an era. It might sound cheesy, but this series literally shaped my current life.

So for those who don't already know, here's my Outlander Story:

Oak and Wildflower would not exist if it hadn't been for Outlander. My love for this show brought me to Scotland, as a visitor. I was travelling solo. During that trip I was on a tour of the Isle of Skye and my tour guide offered to set me up on a date with one of his colleagues, named Jamie πŸ˜‰, a tall red-headed (well red-bearded) Scot who he said was also an Outlander fan and he thought we would get on well. I was hesitant at first, but I decided to give it a go. A few days later I went on an Outlander tour, and then that evening I met Jamie for the first time, in Edinburgh. We hit it off immediately. So well in fact, that two months later I was back in Scotland after giving up my apartment in Canada, and selling a lot of my things to move to Scotland.
A year later (2019) we were married and had a daughter (yes things maybe moved a little too fast πŸ˜‚).

I had already started learning about plant medicine while I was in Canada, thanks again to Outlander sparking this interest in me (the main character Claire is a healer who uses many "wee herbs"). But once I moved to Scotland and especially during lockdown this interest grew and I became passionate about foraging and working with local plants. I realised very quickly this was my life path. I took more courses and in 2022 I ran my first workshops and my business was born πŸ™‚

Had I not started watching Outlander all those years ago, where would I be now? Would I have come to Scotland, met my husband, had my daughter and become a community herbalist? Who's to say. But I know I'm very happy things worked out the way they did πŸ˜ŠπŸ’šπŸŒΏ
