We are very sorry to announce that our upcoming Talking Elephants session, which was scheduled to take place in the Church Hall at Hitchin on Thursday 22nd October, has unfortunately been cancelled.

This is due to essential maintenance and building works being carried out on the venue during this time.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and we truly appreciate your understanding and support as these necessary improvements are made.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our sessions very soon.

This World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we’re recognising the incredible work of hospices and palliative care teams who support people and families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

As long-standing supporters of Keech Hospice, we see the difference that compassionate, specialist care can make, not only for the person receiving support, but for those around them too.

At Neville Funerals, our work often begins where hospice care ends, which is why we have such respect for the people who provide comfort, dignity and reassurance at the end of life.

Today is an opportunity to say thank you to everyone at Keech Hospice, and to hospice and palliative care teams everywhere, for the care they provide every day.

Today marks World Mental Health Day.

On this very important day, we’re reminding our community that support can take many different forms.

For some people, talking face to face can help. That’s the idea behind Talking Elephants, our free bereavement support groups, which give people a welcoming local space to talk, listen and spend time with others who understand loss.

We also have trained Mental Health First Aiders on hand across the business to offer colleagues support and guidance where needed. Area Funeral Manager Shona is one of these.

"I was privileged to be asked to attend the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course," she says, "and it was an experience that really made me reflect.

"At some point in our lives, everyone experiences some form of mental health challenge. There is absolutely no shame in admitting that you’re struggling. If anything, being able to talk openly about our mental health is one of the most important steps we can take."

At Neville Funerals, we know that grief and mental health are closely connected, and that support should be available in a way that feels right for the individual.

Whether that’s sitting down with others locally or reaching out online, the important thing is knowing there is somewhere to turn.

This Baby Loss Awareness Week, we’re remembering the babies who are loved, missed and never forgotten.

For families who have experienced pregnancy or baby loss, grief can be deeply personal and can continue long after others may expect.

This week is an opportunity to recognise those experiences, raise awareness and remind people that support is available.

At Neville Funerals, we understand the importance of creating space for remembrance and giving families the time and support they need in a way that feels right for them.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by baby loss this week.

A meaningful funeral can start with a blank canvas.

New research shows that nearly three quarters of UK adults believe a funeral should reflect the person who has died.

Freddie's family created a celebration shaped around the seven-year-old boy they loved. Amrit's family brought together faith, memories and time to tell the story of his life.

Their experiences show families what they can ask for and what becomes possible with an independent funeral director who listens.

We're supporting SAIF independent funeral directors campaign to help more people understand their funeral choices.

For this week’s Thank You Thursday, we wanted to share some lovely feedback from a family we recently supported.

Knowing that our care, guidance and attention helped make a difficult time feel a little easier means a great deal to the whole team.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Neville Funerals.

Sometimes the hardest part of arranging a funeral is knowing what questions to ask.

That’s why we’re supporting the SAIF independent funeral directors Handled with Care campaign.

It encourages people to take time to understand the different options available, especially when considering an online direct cremation, and to think about what support they may want before making a decision.

At Neville Funerals, we’re always here to explain things clearly, answer questions and help families feel confident about the choices they make.

We’re heading into the final stretch of the year, which means there’s still time to support our Specsavers glasses collection.

Neville Funerals is continuing to collect unwanted prescription glasses, which can be passed on for reuse and help support people who may otherwise struggle to access the eyewear they need.

If you have an old pair sitting in a drawer at home, now is a great time to put them to good use.

Simply bring them into your local Neville Funerals branch and our team will make sure they are added to the collection.

A small donation can make a meaningful difference, and we’d love to finish the year with as many pairs as possible.

We’re pleased to see the importance of bereavement support highlighted in The Bucks Herald.

Through our Talking Elephants groups, we offer free support across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire for anyone who has experienced a loss.

The groups are a place to talk, listen, share a cup of tea and spend time with people who understand. There is no pressure to speak, and no expectation that grief should look or feel a certain way.

For us, support does not end when the funeral does. We know that people may need a friendly face and a listening ear long afterwards.
