🌿 What might the living Earth have to tell us, if we remembered how to listen?

In the old stories, help and wisdom often arrived through an animal, a wise tree, a river or the wind. The world was alive, and human beings understood themselves to be part of a much wider community of life.

What might happen if we became quiet enough to listen again?

On the Sunday before the Autumn Equinox, come into the beautiful landscape of Exmoor and join me at Bossington Chapel for a rather special afternoon of story, listening, prayer, sound and offering.

We’ll begin gently, with ceremonial cacao for anyone who would like it, before settling into story and allowing the afternoon to unfold.

I’ll have been preparing and hand-printing prayer flags beforehand. During our time together, you’ll be invited to complete your own with prayers, words, symbols or colour — whatever arises for you. No artistic experience is needed.

And there will be the gongs... time to lie down, relax, receive and listen more deeply within their extraordinary sound and vibration.

At the end of our afternoon, you can take your prayer flags home — or perhaps walk down towards the river and offer them to the land and waters of Bossington, where their prayers can travel on the wind.

There are some things I’m deliberately not telling you. 😊
Part of the delight is in allowing the afternoon to unfold.

What might an ancient story teach us about coming into deeper relationship with Earth this Autumn Equinox?

Last September, on the olive-strewn slopes of a Greek mountainside, I heard the ancient myth of Demeter and Persephone told aloud.

It stayed with me.

There is something about a story heard and carried in this way. Told stories stay with us. They change as we change, revealing something new each time we return to them. Perhaps that is part of the particular, living magic of the oral tradition.

And as I've returned to this story with the Autumn Equinox approaching, it has been asking some unexpected questions.

What it means to receive.

Whether gratitude is simply something we feel — or something we live.

And about the importance of acknowledgement and reciprocity. About those moments when a loving, defiant 'No' may be part of restoring right relationship. And about what happens when we begin to listen again — not only to one another, but to Earth herself.

The Autumn Equinox is a threshold: a meeting place between light and dark, the abundance of harvest and the beginning of the descent towards winter.

Perhaps it is also an invitation to pause.

To notice what has sustained us. What has fed us. What has been given freely. What has ripened in our own lives.

And perhaps to wonder: how might we respond?

These questions, and the myth itself, eventually became Autumn Equinox Reflections — the 88th piece of writing on the Sound-Well blog.

I've loved writing this one. It feels less like something I have written about the Equinox and more like something an old story has been quietly revealing over the course of a year.

So I'm offering these reflections here, in the hope that they might bring something to your own meeting with this turning of the year.

🌿 The 7-Chakra Journey returns this autumn…

🌿 **The Listening Earth — SOLD OUT** 🌿

Well, this has made my Friday morning rather lovely. 💚

I sent September's Sound-Well newsletter out into the world this morning… and one of its readers has just booked the final place for **The Listening Earth**, our Equinox Retreat at Bossington Chapel on Saturday 19th September.

And so, two weeks before we gather, **the circle of 8 is now complete.** 🌾

Thank you to everyone who has chosen to spend this day with me. I am so looking forward to welcoming you to this beautiful little chapel at the turning of the season — to listen, gather, share, sound, feast and simply be together.

There are still ways to join us over the Equinox weekend, with **Receive**, our Friday evening Sound Bath, and **Listen & Offer** on Sunday afternoon — an invitation into story, prayer flags and gong.

COLOMBIA, WE HOLD YOU 💚🌎

Today, people across the world are being invited to come together in a shared space of prayer, meditation, healing and collective intention for Colombia and the communities affected by the recent earthquake.

There are times when we may feel there is little we can do from afar. And yet we can offer our attention. We can offer our presence. We can gather together and hold another part of our human family in love.

The gathering takes place online today, Sunday 16 August at 5.11pm UK time, and is free to join.
