Offering 1-2-1 personalized and group yoga classes in the Lone Wolf Vision Studio at Ushaw Historic House. Hello, I am Julie… a freelance yoga practitioner and teacher drawing on ancient yoga and ayurvedic practices. I am here to guide your practice with subtle simplicity, bringing new healthful patterns into your life through asana/movement, pranayama/breath and meditation and more. Practising yo

ga is, by design, a deeply transformational experience. It involves embracing change over time, which means crafting space in your life for practice and showing up for yourself in the moment and with your future self in mind (a wonderful motivator!). If you are interested in group or individual classes please get in touch. I particularly love supporting individuals to start their yoga practice from scratch and offer a 1-2-1 beginner's programme. Or if you are seeking a more personalised practice, join my Svastha 1-2-1 programme.

Thank you for this beautiful testimonial of my yoga classes at Taylored-Fit. It’s a pleasure to share yoga and I’m always delighted to hear of any benefits you experience from your practice! 🙏🏼🧡

One of the things we value most is hearing how our classes are experienced by the people who attend them. Thank you to one of our regular attendees for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback:

"Julie creates a calm, peaceful and safe space which is felt on entering the studio. She welcomes her clients individually and takes note of any injuries or limitations clients may have. Her speech is slow and measured, she provides clear explanations and demonstrates each of the yoga positions, suggesting alternatives or gently correcting individual positions.

Throughout the session Julie talks about the practice of yoga, its origins and aim to integrate mind, body and spirit. She guides you through breathing practises, to listen to your body and explore self-awareness.

The result is that I have found my mind remains peaceful and balanced for the remainder of the day. At the end of the session, I don't want to move from the calm state I have achieved.

Selfishly, I like that the numbers attending the class are small, I feel larger numbers would make the class feel less personal and disturb the feeling of calm in the studio.

Since attending these classes I have been inspired to learn more about the history and benefits of yoga."

🤍 Thank you for your kind words and for being part of our community.

Our Yoga for Body, Breath & Mind classes combine movement, breath awareness and mindful practice in a welcoming, supportive environment, helping people move well, feel well and reconnect with themselves.

Massive, thank you to the ladies who joined me for this morning’s Soul Sunday workshop in the Lone Wolf studio…

➡️ We drove into Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras - landing on the kleshas today - specifically abhinivesha / fear
➡️ and wove our way through yoga practices that support our capacity to restore well-being…
➡️ A key element of this was integration and bhava - calmness, steadiness, strength, safety, groundedness…
➡️ There was lots of opportunity for deep reflection and connection with real life examples
➡️ And appreciation of the benefit of practicing in small ways on a daily basis - so that when needed the practices arise to us
➡️ We’ve set ourselves a 100 day challenge to connect and cultivate one small practice daily… from the selection explored
➡️ I’ll be curious to see how that evolves in each individual.

🧡 One of the most popular sessions of the week is my Mindful Movement Yoga class with its focus on agile ageing…

✅ The mindset of this class is to practice and preserve your ability to adapt at any age.

It’s true that over time the ageing process creates changes that impact our capacity… but

🔥 When you build a practice and train consistently it is possible to feel stronger and fitter in yourself and even out-perform a younger version of yourself.

💪🏼 ‘Training’ includes offering yourself a variety of movement opportunities in your daily life, and yoga can be part of that.

➡️ As we age, the body is continually renewing itself, responding to load, stress, recovery and rest.

✅ Mindful Movement - Yoga for Agile Ageing is a class that invites you to
🪷move in multiple directions
🪷 keep the brain responsive
🪷 nourish your joints
🪷 keep movement confidence alive

You will
✅ lay down patterning in the body
✅ work consciously
✅ train resilience

And as always, you will learn to
✅ integrate the breath effectively
✅ nourish bhavana / feeling state

➡️ The current block has a focus on 4 key postures, that when integrated in a practice, nourish the spine.

🤗 What a wonderful day at Durham Miners’ Gala 2026…

It’s not every year that I get to be at this event, but when I do it always manages to raise a lump to my throat.

This year was no exception, and for the first time ever I made it to the memorial service in the Cathedral.

The new banner for Langley Park received a dedication (sorry no photo!!!) 🙈

🧡 The main address came from The Right Honorable The Lord Henry, KC, the barrister acting on behalf of coal miners for several decades, now entering retirement… best speech of the day

🧡 The sermon, delivered by Right Reverend Philip North drew laughter… he spoke about dukkah and sukkah (okay maybe he didn’t use those words, but the concepts are the same) and shared a humorous story of his ‘fight’ response kicking in on the tube in central London…
(Come to my workshop next Sunday to activate the calm response!)

🧡 The underlying bhavana / feeling state of the speeches…
🪷 health, wisdom and compassion
🪷 abundant hope and opportunity
🪷 peace and justice
🪷 living in harmony

“we remember with thanksgiving those that have gone before us; all those who offered themselves in the service of their fellow beings…”

The miners’ lamp was lit, scars of pain and loss recalled… and then with a forward look of healing and hope…

🧡 May we never forget our ancestors and all that they did for our benefit and the benefit of others.
