Did you know navels take at least 12
months to fully heal?

Not all navels should be pierced, so it is recommended to attend an anatomy consultation prior to have the navel evaluated (navels are essentially quite similar to a surface piercing and can be temperamental during the healing process, particularly if jewellery is not anatomically accommodating.)

This client had unfortunately lost her jewellery and attended hoping we could salvage the existing piercing. We initially attempted to reopen the channel using a taper, however the tract had closed beyond the point where this could be achieved safely. Rather than forcing the tissue and creating unnecessary trauma, we made the decision to repierce the tragus instead.

The new piercing was performed using an inside-out technique with a custom-bent blade needle, allowing for precise jewellery placement and excellent control of angle and positioning through the tissue.

We then fitted a beautiful Trinity design from Neometal featuring genuine black Swarovski zirconia set in verified implant-grade titanium.

Although we were unable to preserve the original channel, repiercing allowed us to create a clean, correctly positioned tract with minimal trauma to the surrounding tissue ✨

A lot of people are surprised to learn that results with neuromodulators don’t appear instantly, and occasionally they don’t settle perfectly straight away either.

Not every navel anatomy is suited to a traditional navel piercing, and that’s where floating navels come in.

A floating navel is designed specifically for anatomy where the navel collapses, folds, or compresses when sitting or bending. Instead of heavy jewellery putting pressure on the lower exit point, a floating style uses a smaller base or hidden disc internally to reduce irritation and improve long-term stability.

Anatomy always comes first. The goal is not forcing a piercing to work, it’s adapting the jewellery and placement to the body in front of you.

People put a lot of trust into practitioners when they book a piercing or treatment, and honestly, they should.

But good results mean very little if the safety side isn’t being taken seriously too.

Anything that breaks the skin carries responsibility behind it. Piercing, aesthetics, microneedling, skin treatments… all of it relies on proper infection control, cross-contamination prevention, and understanding exactly how to work safely around blood and bodily fluids.

The scary part is that training and standards are not always as regulated or consistent as people assume.

So ask questions. Research properly. Pay attention to how somebody works, not just how their photos look.

A good practitioner should never be offended by being asked about safety. They should be able to explain it confidently.

Because you’re not just trusting someone with your appearance. You’re trusting them with your health too.

Your artist wearing gloves does not automatically mean your procedure is safe.

A spotless looking room is not the same thing as proper infection control. Sterility is a process. One built on validated autoclaves, routine testing, aseptic handling, single-use sterile needles, correct packaging, correct storage, and protocols most clients never actually see.

That’s the uncomfortable part about good clinical practice… The safest standards are often invisible.

In both piercing and aesthetics, you are trusting somebody to intentionally break the skin barrier. That should never rely on vibes, aesthetics, or ‘it looked clean enough’.

Clean removes visible debris.
Sterile means free from viable microorganisms.
Those are not interchangeable terms.

A beautiful studio means nothing if the protocol behind it is weak.

The reality is, infection control is rarely glamorous. It’s repetitive, meticulous, expensive, and honestly a bit obsessive. But that obsession is exactly what protects people ✅
