"I just don't know what to do anymore."

It's a sentence many parents of children with ADHD say quietly, often after weeks, months or even years of trying their best.

You read the books. You try the strategies. You celebrate the good days and question yourself on the difficult ones.

The truth is, parenting a child with ADHD can be exhausting, emotional and, at times, incredibly lonely.

You don't have to carry that weight by yourself.

At Butterfly Counselling, we understand that every family's experience of ADHD is different. Whether your child has recently been diagnosed, you're waiting for an assessment, or you're simply finding things difficult, we're here to listen.

You deserve support too.

A good friend won't always have the answers... but they can make you feel a little less alone.

Sometimes, simply saying "I'm not okay" to someone you trust can lift a weight you've been carrying for far too long. Talking doesn't make problems disappear, but it can help you make sense of them, feel supported, and remind you that you don't have to face everything on your own.

Friendship isn't about always knowing what to say. It's about listening without judgement, being present, and reminding each other that it's okay to ask for help.

This International Friendship Day, celebrate the people who listen, who care, and who remind us that none of us has to navigate life alone.

Sometimes the bravest words are simply... "Can we talk?"

Life can feel overwhelming, and finding the space to talk isn't always easy. In-person counselling gives you the opportunity to step away from the pressures of everyday life and into a calm, confidential environment where you can speak openly, without judgement.

At Butterfly Counselling, we provide a safe, distraction-free space where you'll be listened to, supported, and helped to feel at easeβ€”whether you're facing anxiety, stress, low mood, grief, relationship challenges, or simply need someone to talk to.

You don't have to face things alone. Taking that first step could be the beginning of feeling more like yourself again.

Today is Self Care Day πŸ’™

When life gets busy, looking after yourself is often the first thing to slip down the priority list. But self-care isn't a luxury or something you have to earn – it's an important part of maintaining your mental and emotional wellbeing.

Self-care doesn't have to mean spa days or expensive treats. It can be as simple as:
✨ Taking a walk in nature
✨ Saying "no" without feeling guilty
✨ Switching off your phone for an hour
✨ Talking to someone you trust
✨ Taking a few deep breaths
✨ Giving yourself permission to rest

Remember, you can't pour from an empty cup. Taking time to care for yourself helps you show up for the people and things that matter most.

This Self Care Day, ask yourself:
"What do I need today?"

And then, if you can, give yourself permission to make it happen. πŸ’™

"What if they think I'm overreacting?"
It's a thought that stops so many people from speaking.
We convince ourselves that everyone else is coping better. That our problems aren't "big enough". That we should just get on with it.

So we smile.
We say, "I'm fine."
We carry on.

Until carrying on starts to feel exhausting.
The truth is, you don't need to be in crisis to deserve support. You don't have to justify your feelings or prove that they're serious enough.

Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do isn't pretending you're okay.

It's saying, "This is how I really feel." πŸ’™

For many neurodivergent people, everyday situations that seem simple to others can be overwhelming.

Understanding starts when we stop asking,
"Why can't they just...?"
..and start asking,
"What might they be experiencing right now?"

At Butterfly Counselling, we understand that every person's experience is unique. Whether you're neurodivergent yourself, supporting a child, or navigating life after a diagnosis, you're not alone. Compassion and understanding can make all the difference.

World Wellbeing Week

This week has been a reminder that wellbeing isn't about being happy all the time or having all the answers. It's about recognising when we need to pause, taking care of ourselves and knowing it's okay to ask for support when life feels challenging.

Whether you've taken time to rest, checked in with a friend, spent time outdoors, or simply allowed yourself a moment to breathe, every small step matters.

At Butterfly Counselling, we're here all year round, whether you're facing a specific challenge or simply need someone to talk to.
