My focus for August is gentleness, my starting inspiration coming from Sandra Sabatini's gorgeous book, 'Breath' :

"It is very beautiful to follow what the body loves. The body loves gentleness.
We are always so rough - especially when it comes to movement. Movement that is born with the breath has beauty."

I think this is so true, what do you make of it?

TUESDAY TRIVIA
The full Locust pose is a fabulous way to wake up our posterior muscle chain (back of the body), activating the spinal extensors, gluteal muscles (buttocks), and hamstrings.

This makes it the perfect posture to counter sitting all day and gives us the strength we need for stronger back bends.

With this benefit in mind, does that make you more inclined to give it a go? :)

Goodness me, we're into August! These weeks are whizzing by and I'm not sure how I feel about that!

I like to have a little reflection at this time of the year, to make sure I'm going in the right direction, and this year, with Saturn in it's retrograde position it's even more important to just stop for a moment (or a few days!) to review and see what lessons have been learnt or still need learning, as well as checking that your goals and actions are still aligned - change them if needed, take your time.

Join me for some fabulous late summer yoga. The energy changes again as we move through summer, so we'll be balancing the heat of the season and then working on the dryness that starts to creep in as we move towards the end of summer. Lots of yoga then to cool, keep our joints moving smoothly and our digestive system happy.

Give me a shout if you'd like to join us at one of my online classes - works out at just £5.50 a session (when you pay for a block of 6 upfront £33, use within 12 weeks), plus membership to our VIP group for FREE yoga sessions and videos.

Choose from:
Tuesday 6.15 - 7.15pm
Thursday 2 - 3pm
Thursday 6.45 - 7.45pm
Friday 9.30 - 10.30am

FABULOUS FRIDAY'S TIP OF THE DAY: How to get the most from your asana practice. Pigeon pose

You can get into Pigeon pose in different ways, and you can play around with the position of the front leg, eg.

* From kneeling, slide one leg back, leaving the heel of the front foot by the groin. Photo 1.

* Sit on your bottom, legs wide. Bend one knee and open out, sweep the other leg round and back, lifting up your hips so that you can position yourself more central. Photo 2 & 3.

* Lower yourself from Dog, into either of the above positions. Photo 4.

Play around, if your back and hips are ok, and see which you like best.

I know some of you like a bit of Vedic astrology wisdom, so here is something to be aware of...

Venus moves into an "uncomfortable" position tomorrow, so this could be a tricky time for relationships, particularly watch for nit picking and the blame game! We need to BE EXTRA KIND this month. Focus on CLEAR COMMUNICATION.

This is also another opportunity to let go of what's not serving us, the dross so to speak!

And another couple of things that will be helpful...

BE GENEROUS WITH YOUR PRAISE, AND APPRECIATION OF PEOPLE.

LIFT PEOPLE UP, DON'T PULL THEM DOWN.

Lots of love :) Isabel x

I had a couple of days last week when I was feeling quite irritable - I could have fallen out with myself ha ha. As there was no reason for me to be feeling this way, that was when I checked out the planetary situation as I mentioned in a post, this gave me some explanation of why I was feeling this way and gave me a way into a yoga practice to help me change my mood, which I have to say worked very quickly to restore balance and harmony.

My yoga was basically this...

Prana kriyas with a specific focus and ratio. Rested in crocodile afterwards. Lifted into Cat, from there rocked back into a squat, and finally into standing. I then moved into Chair of the Heart, a gentle triangle (my back was still not happy with side stretches last week), folded into a wide leg forward bend so that I could flow into the Heaven and Earth stretch / twist. I finished with gentle lying twists and into relaxation, before my meditation practice.

And of course I practised the mudra of tolerance throughout the day.

Is there a yoga posture or sequence that helps you when you are feeling irritable? Please do share.

Just dropped (check me out down with the kids with my social media language!) on my on-demand studio is the Post Workout yoga flow :) You'll find it in the Move with Ease category. Hope you enjoy it, and you don't have to have been exercising, it's a nice session on it's own!

I've realised that sometimes people are finding it a bit difficult to sign up fully to the site, here are a couple of things that might be happening.

1. First check the date on your credit card, there needs to be at least one month left before it expires.
2. Check your junk file if you do not receive the email verification code, a know from a few people that this is where they've been landing.

If you continue to have issues please do let me know and we can get that sorted :)

It's a full moon tonight. In the yoga tradition July's full moon is known as Guru Purnima, a time for honouring and giving thanks to our teachers.

This year it's good to think about all those who make / have made you walk your talk, kept you on the path in pursuit of the truth, and encouraged you stay to humble.

I am so grateful to all my teachers, and I can think of a handful that have definitely kept me on the straight and narrow, and the lessons in humility I've learned, particularly when it comes to my teaching.

Maybe you have chance to think about your teachers today. Who in particular has kept you accountable? Or perhaps there is a particular teaching or lesson that guides you? It's not always the obvious teachers that we get great teachings from.

Have gratitude for the teachers that have helped you grow into a beautiful lotus flower from the murky depths of the pond
