To track changes in the health of their intervertebral discs (IVDs), researchers used MRI scans to measure whole-disc T2 (ms) from T11/T12 to L5/S1 relaxation timesโa reliable way to assess disc hydration and structural integrityโat the start, middle, and end of the 12-week period. The T2 value is influenced by IVD biochemical composition and water content, where higher values indicate higher hydration and better IVD health.
