Reasons why as a Midwife I am declining induction.
Induction is not a decision that should be taken lightly.
Do your research.
I apologise for the poor stats.
The chances of stillbirth at 41 weeks is around 0.5 per 1000 and at 42 weeks its about 0.6 per 1000. So, yes it doubles! but there is still over a 99% chance you will not have a stillbirth.

These stats are not high enough for me to take the risks of induction.

41 weeks and counting!

Come on baby. We want to meet you now 🥰🥰
I grow slightly "bigger" babies, so no doubt this one is at least 4kg, probably more by now.
I'm prepped and ready to meet this little one but clearly he or she isn't quite ready yet and that is OK.

My body is holding out (just). The hip pain is crazy at times and the exhaustion is beyond anything. Walking from room to room can be quite a struggle at times.

Induction of labour is not an option for me. I trust that my baby will come when he or she is ready.

What am I doing this week I hear you ask!!

Having a baby (I hope)!
At this gestation you just can't make any concrete plans. It's driving the kids mad! haha

Now at 40+5, I am also starting to get a little fed up and bored!

Come on little one. We can't wait to meet you.

40 weeks!!

So many say; "oh it must be a boy, as you are carrying all out front!" And maybe they are right, but I've carried all three of my babies like this.
I'm very fortunate and generally only gain pregnancy related weight and end my pregnancies looking like a have a beach ball shoved up my top!! 🤣🤣

Small chat about what triggers labour.

A great activity for the kids to get up close with baby and have fun.

I used crushed chalk mixed with water (chalk paint) = minimal chemicals, so safe for pregnancies.

The kids loved it and I think they did a beautiful job. It felt so wrong to wash it off. 😫

A great little activity though.
