This isn’t really a post about someone not paying me.
Although after 21 years in practice, I’ll admit it’s a first, and it does p*e me off a bit!
It’s about what I hope she takes away from the time we spent together.
Because she came to me after three years of trying to conceive feeling like she had very little idea what she should be doing next.
And as I listened to her story, fertility almost became secondary for a moment.
There were things going on in her body that were affecting her now. Things that deserved to be listened to, taken seriously and investigated - regardless of whether she was trying for a baby.
I can’t diagnose endometriosis.
I can’t tell someone why they haven’t conceived.
And I will never promise that working with me will get someone pregnant.
But I can listen.
I can look at the whole picture.
I can notice the things that might warrant another conversation with a GP or specialist.
I can help someone understand their cycle and their fertility better.
I can signpost them towards further investigation and reliable information.
And perhaps most importantly, I can help them work out what questions to ask when they feel completely lost.
So yes, I would still very much like to be paid for the work I did 😂.
But more than that, I hope she follows some of the things we discussed.
And if, months from now, she has some answers, feels better in her body and understands more about what has been going on for her, I hope a tiny part of her thinks:
“That conversation helped me know where to look next.”
Because sometimes support isn’t about having all the answers.
It’s about having someone who knows which questions might be worth asking. ❤️
And if you’re trying to conceive and feel like nobody has ever really looked at the whole picture, this is exactly the kind of support I offer.
You don’t have to know what you need before you come to me. Sometimes we start by simply working that out together.
You can find out more about working with me through the link in my bio and book in a free chat. ❤️
