We often look at our hair as something purely cosmetic, but your hair and scalp can sometimes tell us much more than we realise.

Neurodivergence is something that’s really close to my heart. 🤍

Through my own families experience, I’ve become really passionate about adapting treatments to fit the client, rather than expecting the client to fit the mould of a typical salon or spa guest.

Sometimes parents and carers can be too close to the source. You can say the same thing 100 times, but hearing it from someone else, in a different environment, can make all the difference.

When Molly first came to me, she was really struggling with her hair. She’d reached that age where Mum no longer helps in the same way, and something that should be simple had become really difficult.

So we chatted, did a wee bit of science so she could actually see what was happening, and added a tiny bit of education to help her help herself.

She wanted no music, no extra chatting and only wanted me to touch her hair.

So that’s exactly what we did.

Fast forward, and now she chooses the playlist, looks forward to coming and has even told Mum she can wait outside because I think we’re practically friends now.🥹

This is why I love what I do.

It’s not about making people fit the treatment. It’s about making the treatment fit them.

Good luck to all the little ones and big ones heading back to school today. ❤️

I know today brings a mix of excitement, nerves and maybe a few tears for children, mums, dads and families of every shape and size.

My little niece is starting Primary 1 today, and I genuinely can’t believe where the time has gone. 🥹 This is also the first year we haven’t been buying school uniforms because Liam is off to college. It really is true what they say… the years fly by.

So whatever today looks like for you, I’m thinking of you all.

A huge good luck to all the teachers, school support staff and everyone working behind the scenes to make today a success. We’ve loved welcoming so many of you into Head HQ over the summer holidays. It’s always one of our busiest times, with teachers and parents squeezing in a little bit of self-care before the routines begin again.

Today we’ve got a few lovely mums coming in. Sometimes just knowing you’ve got an hour booked out for yourself is enough to get you through the morning chaos and I absolutely love being part of that.

Wishing everyone a brilliant first day back. Be kind to yourselves today… you’ve all got this. 🤍

Does anyone else feel like the art of the facial has changed over the last few years?

There are so many incredible aesthetic treatments and advanced skin technologies available now, and if that’s what you’re looking for, they’re amazing. I genuinely believe there’s room for everyone, and I love seeing businesses thrive doing what they’re passionate about.

But personally… I’ve always been drawn to something a little different.

I think somewhere along the way, the simple beauty of skin-on-skin touch, nurturing treatments and deep relaxation has become a little overlooked. We’re so focused on reversing, correcting and fixing that we sometimes forget just how much tension we carry in our face.

Think about how often you clench your jaw, frown without realising, or hold stress in your neck and shoulders. That tension travels right up into your scalp.

At Head HQ, our facials are intentionally gentle.

We start with a cleanse, tone and exfoliation using mild, skin-loving products that support your skin rather than overwhelm it. It’s not about layering lots of products or using anything harsh. It’s about encouraging healthy circulation, supporting lymphatic drainage and bringing out your own natural glow.

The real magic, for me, is in the hands-on treatment.

Lymphatic facial massage, Korean-inspired techniques, slow shoulder and neck massage that melts into the scalp, and little ASMR touches while your products are soaking in. It’s all designed to help you switch off, release tension and leave feeling lighter than when you walked in.

It’s amazing how different your whole face can feel when your jaw softens, your shoulders drop and your mind pauses.

Maybe that’s just me… but I don’t think we can underestimate the power of human touch. 🤍
