Yoga and self-care practices can be really good to help us tolerate discomfort. Which is super useful in many circumstances as normal life can throw plenty of discomfort at us.

But what if sometimes it stops becoming useful and becomes anaesthesia for things in our life that would really be better to crash and burn 🔥

Why I stopped doing massages (alone) and why reiki can be really useful to help us re-orientate ourselves to where we actually want to go ✨☄️

Don't let your practice become a sticking plaster 🩹

✨New Reiki Courses coming up at The Yoga Den in East Linton ✨

✨Reiki 1 - Self Healing
Thurs 17th Sept
11.30am - 5.30pm

Reiki 1 is all about starting with yourself. We learn a little about what reiki is, and the history and science behind it. We share and learn together about the importance of Intention and learn how to channel reiki energy to ourselves. Reiki 1 is followed by a 21 day and daily practice that supports the integration of the attunement, and establishes a powerful practice of self-healing 💛

Investment in Reiki 1 is £131

✨ Reiki 2 - Practitioner Level

For those that have completed Reiki 1 and the 21 day cleanse, Reiki 2 takes our practice to the next level, where we learn how to safely and effectively share reiki with others in a therapeutic setting.

We receive 3 sacred reiki symbols and learn about the practicalities of holding a therapeutic space, including boundaries, energy exchange, skilful communication, and documentation.

Reiki 2 is a 2 day course and certification is received after the submission of case studies.

Investment in Reiki 2 is £262.

If you are curious about Reiki courses, it is also recommended to receive a reiki treatment first (although not strictly essential).

Look out for a little special offer on reiki sessions coming soon too ✨💛✨

Sharing a little story about .yoga because I think it is such a perfect example of why teaching yoga is such a brilliant and rewarding path.

Tricia was a really successful anxiety coach and therapist who had amazing success helping many clients and a thriving business - so much so that she moved into business coaching to help other wellbeing professionals too.

She did her YTT at The Yoga Den last year, and now all she wants to do is teach yoga classes.

Why?

Because she can help MORE people, in a really powerful and meaningful way, at much less cost to them, she is building communities and connections, and quite simply - she just loves it.

Tricia teaches beautiful, simple classes, her classes are inclusive and accessible. With background being self-employed means she knows how to promote and market her classes successfully, so within just a year and a bit she has build up a financially viable, sustainable business that she absolutely loves.

She has also never felt fitter or better in her body.

Totally inspiring 🌟

**little announcement below**

Our 'Mudra of the Week'™️🙃 is this one:

Ashwaratna Mudra, or Horse Jewel Gesture 🦄💎

This one is all about perspective.

The suggested meditation practice to apply this Mudra, is to 'zoom out' 🚀 to observe the whole of your life as if from above.

To see all the different aspects & elements: family, work, play, habits and behaviours. And to observe the interplay between them all 🔗

It invites us to see the bigger picture, the whole show.

Often we can find ourselves zooming in 🔍 focusing in on a particular problem until it feels all consuming, until it feels like it's all there is 🔬

But when we take a step back and see the Whole, it can really help us to keep it all in perspective.

Maybe that huge problem is not quite as big as we thought it was. And it can help us to become clear on what step we need to take next.

✨✨✨

The effects of this Mudra, for me, became clear immediately after practicing it in class this morning.

I have taken the decision to further edit, streamline and reduce my class offering ✂️

My Monday 11am Beginners/improvers class has been quiet for several terms now, and today I decided that the beautiful 121 session we had for today's class would be the last one at that time slot for the time being.

I am learning, learning, learning that spreading myself too thin does no favours to anyone, least of all myself. I have loved teaching this class over the last few years, but classes or offering that are not viable, over time become depleting.

And with my available use of the treatment room becoming more limited (because of the other wonderful practitioners), I need to be pragmatic about where my time is most useful for myself and others ❤️‍🩹

I know that my few lovely regulars will understand ✨💜✨

It was touch and go 🌧️☁️ but we made it out on the actual beach for our last Yoga on the Beach of the summer! 🥳

Always so gorgeous to be out in nature, to be immersed in our surroundings and our senses, while moving and breathing together 🩵

What a privilege to have this on our doorstep 🐚

And then I returned to a parking ticket 😭 the irony being I had bought a ticket but because I was short of time (yes really!!!) I must have rushed away and left the bloody thing in the machine 😩😭

That'll learn me!

(Except it won't).

We will be back in the studio next Sunday for the return of Ashtanga Full Primary class and then beginners/improvers, and the Autumn Class schedule starts tomorrow! 🍂

How long do we put off doing the things that bring us joy? This is the year I am reclaiming another little part of myself 🏐

Everything constantly is in evolution, everything changes. This is a change I have been reluctant to make for so long, but now is the time to embrace it.

My Thurs night regulars will be in very capable hands and I will be making guest appearances very regularly too 👋

And my new Friday night class is an exciting addition to my schedule in view of my reduced teaching commitment overall.

Thank you for everyone's support while I make this long overdue and exciting change for myself and my joy. And to the teachers who will be giving you some wonderful sessions, thank you in advance to you all 💙

🪷 This week we are working with Padma Mudra, lotus gesture, the hand position here, and bringing it into our meditations in class 🪷

The beautiful lotus flower features heavily in the imagery of yoga, the lotus position being the classic meditation posture.

The lotus symbolises beauty, bliss, perfection. Blossoming. Coming to fruition. 🪷

However there is a well known saying - No mud, no lotus.

The lotus is not always in full bloom. It starts off life as a seed in the yucky mud at the bottom of the pond 🟫💩

We cannot be in full blossom all the time. In fact the mud/yuckiness/s**t is so important, that there would be no flowering without it.

Practicing this simple gesture and meditation this week has reminded that life is simply a balance between 2 polarities. The light and dark. The yin and yang. The s**t and the blossoming. The sorrow and the joy. The love and the loss. Holding on and letting go.

You cannot have one without the other. So the practice becomes - can we hold ourselves steady and lightly, through all of our seasons. Knowing that nothing is permanent and that the breakdown & composting will be followed by beauty & bloom. And then back again 🪷

And keeping an open heart through all of it 🪷🩶🪷
