Working at liberty helps to start to open up the conversation with individuals level of awareness of the autonomic nervous system.

Responses are sometimes due to trauma, or prevous learnt behaviour or expectations. A person's responses can be out of context for the actual experience they're having in that moment.

When working with the horses, the pace slows down and the level of awareness increases. With constant in time feedback as their nervous system moves through the different states and they see the response the horse provides.

The individual is then able to take small steps of alterations until the state they wished to be at, which is to feel safe, is consistent.
