How my coaching had developed.
I was doing some clear out of my media and this little gem popped up with .r85. This is an old video I had to make for my MSc Strength and Conditioning roughly in 2018.
And to be fair, my coaching is dog toffee here 🤣. The number of coaching cues and chat I am sprouting; Even I am confused!
Coaching is all about keeping it simple. I tend to get people moving first, watch and then offer cues for areas that need to improve and let them self-organise (if it is safe, low loads of course). Letting people try and learn, helps to improve skill acquisition, too many cues make people get overwhelmed and the skill never develops.
If you have not got a coach, try just exploring with the exercise with low loads or an empty bar, if you can record it. Watch it back and learn from it. Trust me having a second view from a side can display more information rather than just trying to look in the mirror or just feel.
And finally, remember practice doesn't make perfect. If you are moving poorly and keep doing it, practice makes permanent, not perfect in most cases.
Give it a whirl and let me know your thoughts.
