🍂 Goodbye August, Hello September 🍂

And just like that, we step into a brand new month.

September often carries a feeling of change. The summer begins to soften, routines return, children and young people head back to school and college, and life starts to find a different rhythm again.

But you don’t have to enter September with everything figured out. You don’t need a huge list of goals, you don’t need to suddenly feel motivated, and you certainly don’t need to have healed, moved on or “got yourself together” simply because the calendar has changed.

Sometimes a new month is simply an opportunity to take things one day at a time. To rest when you need to, set a boundary, ask for help, begin again, notice how far you’ve already come and remember that surviving difficult days counts too.

So goodbye, August 🌻 and hello, September 🍂

May this month bring a little more breathing space, a little more kindness towards ourselves, and plenty of moments where we remember that we’re doing the best we can with what we’re carrying.

Here’s to taking September gently. 💗

♥️ Adult Counselling — Six Sessions, Completely Free ❤️

Sometimes asking for help is hard enough without having to worry about whether you can afford it. That is why I choose to volunteer my time to offer six completely free counselling sessions to every client who begins their counselling journey with me.

It isn’t a special offer, it isn’t means-tested, and you don’t have to prove that you’re struggling “enough” to deserve support. It’s simply something I believe in very deeply. I know private counselling can feel financially out of reach for so many people, particularly when everyday life already costs so much. I never want money to be the reason somebody feels they have to keep carrying something alone.

My adult counselling sessions offer a gentle, confidential space where you can come exactly as you are. You might be living with anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, overwhelming emotions, changes in your life, or simply feeling that somewhere along the way you’ve lost yourself a little. You don’t need to have the right words, you don’t need a diagnosis, and you don’t need to know where to begin. We begin wherever you are.

By volunteering those first six sessions completely free of charge, I hope to give you time to build trust, feel safe and explore whether counselling with me feels right for you, without finances being a barrier to taking those first steps.

And support doesn’t have to end when those six sessions do. If you would like to continue our work together, longer-term counselling is available at a very low cost, because I never want the end of the free sessions to mean the end of someone’s support simply because finances are difficult.

For me, accessible counselling isn’t an extra part of my practice. It’s at the heart of why I do this work.

Everyone deserves somewhere safe to land. ❤️

We are incredibly proud to share this. ❤️

Rooftops Therapy & Wellbeing Rooms has officially signed the Ask for Angela National Venue Pledge.

Creating Rooftops was never just about providing rooms for therapy and wellbeing. We wanted to create a place where people feel safe, welcomed, listened to and supported from the moment they walk through our doors.

By signing the pledge, Rooftops is making a commitment to provide a safe and welcoming space and to offer support if somebody needs it, for any reason.

If you are ever at or near Rooftops and feel unsafe, uncomfortable, vulnerable or simply need some help, you can Ask for Angela.

You don’t need to explain everything. You don’t need to justify why you need support. Just ask. We’re here to help. ❤️

This is another really important step in making Rooftops the kind of community space we always intended it to be… a safe place to land.

Children & Young People’s Counselling | 6 Free Sessions

Sometimes, children and young people carry far more than we realise.

Anxiety. Family difficulties. Friendship problems. Bullying. Trauma. Loss. Neurodiversity. School pressures. Low self-esteem. Big changes at home. Feelings they don’t yet have the words to explain.

And sometimes, the adults around them know they need some extra support, but the cost of accessing that support becomes another barrier.

That is exactly why I offer 6 completely free counselling sessions to every new child or young person who comes to work with me.

Not discounted. Not dependent on benefits. No requirement for a family to prove that they are struggling financially.

Just six sessions where a child or young person can begin building a relationship with someone safe, feel heard without judgement, and have space that belongs entirely to them.

Early emotional support matters. We don’t have to wait until a young person reaches crisis point before we take their feelings seriously.

My work with children and young people is gentle, trauma-informed and led by the individual in front of me. Depending on their age and needs, sessions might include talking, creativity, play, art, grounding and regulation work, or simply having somewhere they know they can come and be themselves.

I know that six sessions cannot fix everything. But they can be a beginning.

They can give a young person somewhere to land.

They can help them understand that their feelings matter.

And sometimes, being given support at the right time can make an enormous difference.

Making therapy accessible has always been incredibly important to me, and as long as I am able to continue offering these six free sessions, I will.

Jess Johnson Counselling | Holistic Integrative Therapy at Rooftops

Therapy doesn’t have to be about sitting in a room and being asked to talk about things before you’re ready.

Jess offers Holistic Integrative Therapy, bringing together different therapeutic approaches to create support around the individual person… their experiences, their needs and the way they naturally communicate and connect.

Working with adults, children and young people, Jess offers trauma-informed support across a wide range of emotional and life experiences, with particular experience supporting those affected by trauma, childhood sexual abuse, domestic abuse, anxiety, PTSD, neurodiversity, infertility, pregnancy after loss and postnatal emotional wellbeing.

For children and young people, therapy can look very different to traditional talking therapy. Sessions may incorporate creative activities, art, play and sand work, providing different ways to explore emotions and experiences when finding the words feels difficult.

For adults too, there is no expectation to arrive knowing exactly what to say. Therapy can simply begin with what is happening for you now.

Jess’s approach is grounded in the belief that people are more than a diagnosis or a collection of symptoms. Therapy is about understanding the whole person, recognising the ways we have learned to survive, exploring what we need now and creating a relationship where people can feel genuinely heard and accepted.

Accessibility is at the heart of Jess Johnson Counselling, with a commitment to making therapeutic support accessible, affordable and inclusive.

Jess offers up to six counselling sessions completely free of charge, helping to remove some of the financial barriers that can prevent people from accessing support when they need it.

Sometimes therapy is about processing the past. Sometimes it’s about getting through the present. Sometimes it’s simply having somewhere safe to land while you work out what comes next.
