A reminder for those who need it. Sometimes relationships feel like ‘love’ when they repeat familiar (& possibly hurtful or unhelpful) patterns. It takes time and awareness to understand your own relational ‘dance’ & what attracts you initially to certain dynamics. This is a tough one that is often learned the hard way so be gentle with yourself if you notice reappearing patterns. Even very healthy, secure relationships might bump into these issues too. Go gently with your best healing intentions. Remember healing within a relationship takes consistent work from two people 🩷

Sending love

Just to reiterate that these aren’t occasional or once in a blue moon exchanges in emotional abuse - it’s a relational pattern that appears frequently.

Some gentle reminders as you heal

You can change course too. Sometimes we outgrow past versions of ourselves.

This hurts & it takes time to realize & recognize relationships that feel one sided & imbalanced. Your needs are important too.

You’ve got this 🤗

A few ways relational trauma shows up…

Over giving & adapting your life to meet the needs of others first is often a direct reflection of your self worth & ability to use boundaries. We are triggered by trauma wounds where we learned that relational success happens through self abandonment.

This is huge, feeling worthy of having your needs met & the ability to choose a partner who is open to deep, vulnerable conversations about what matters within a relationship so that both people can thrive.

Assuming you’re always to blame & using self blame to attenuate the mood is a shadow of how you copes with relational tension in the past.
