๐ก๏ธ Amber Extreme Heat Alert Issued ๐ก๏ธ
The Met Office has issued an Amber Extreme Heat Alert for early next week, and we want to remind everyone to take extra care, especially older adults, people living with dementia, and those with long-term health conditions.
โ๏ธ Top Tips for Staying Safe in the Heat:
๐ง Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, even if you donโt feel thirsty.
๐ Keep curtains and blinds closed in rooms that face the sun.
โ๏ธ Stay in the coolest part of the home during the hottest hours (11amโ3pm).
๐ Wear loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing.
๐ Eat light meals and foods with a high water content such as fruit, salads, and yoghurt.
๐ถ Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
๐ Check in regularly on elderly relatives, neighbours, and friends.
โ ๏ธ Watch out for signs of dehydration and heat exhaustion:
โข Feeling dizzy or faint
โข Headaches
โข Increased confusion
โข Dry mouth
โข Dark-coloured urine
โข Extreme tiredness
If you or someone you care for becomes unwell in the heat, seek medical advice promptly.
At The Home Bees, weโre keeping a close eye on the people we support and helping them stay hydrated, comfortable, and safe during the warmer weather.
๐ Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another.
