Local Care, Local Support

It's great to see the Life Skills in the Community sessions continuing with a Scam Awareness event this month, delivered by Nottingham West Social Prescribing and Inspire Eastwood Library.

This free session is open to everyone and offers practical advice on how to recognise, avoid and report scams. Definitely something there for us all to learn, as scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated.

If you know someone who may be more vulnerable to scams, perhaps an elderly neighbour, friend or relative, please share details of this event with them.

Awareness is our best defence!

🏅EPCC Team Spotlight 🌟

Congratulations and very well done to Megan from our Admin Team for completing the Race for Life and raising funds for a very worthwhile charity

"I raised an amazing £485, through family friends and colleagues and I’m very grateful for their support. I chose to participate in the 5k Race for Life to help raise money for a fantastic charity, remember loved ones and to have a good time. It was a very hot day but I managed to get around the course successfully. My donations page is now closed but thank you to everyone for your support."

Everyone at EPCC is incredibly proud of your fantastic achievement Megan 👏👏👏

EPCC Snapshot

During July, Eastwood Primary Care Centre provided 10,061 appointments for patients in our surgery.

Unfortunately, 325 of those appointments were missed without being cancelled. Every missed appointment is valuable clinical time that could have been offered to another patient waiting to be seen.

If you can no longer make your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. Cancelling is quick and easy:

Use your NHS account via the NHS App or NHS website
Reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text
Call us on 01773 304700, our callback service keeps your place in the queue, so there's no need to wait on hold
Call into the surgery and let our Reception team know

We appreciate that sometimes circumstances can change. By cancelling an appointment you cannot attend or no longer need, you are helping us offer that time to another patient waiting for care.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended their appointment or took the time to cancel or rearrange it. Your support helps us make the best use of our clinical time and ensures we can care for as many patients as possible.

Together, we can reduce missed appointments and make every appointment count 💙

July 28th is World Hepatitis Day.

Viral hepatitis is a virus that causes inflammation of the liver and the main types of viral hepatitis virus are hepatitis A, B, C, D and E.

Hepatitis C is a curable form of viral hepatitis, contracted via blood-to-blood contact with someone with an active hepatitis C virus. If left undetected and untreated hepatitis C can cause liver cirrhosis (irreversible liver scarring) and liver cancer. Due to its symptomless nature, early detection is vital. Treatment is curative in 98% of cases and can be completed in 8-12 weeks. No one should lose their life to hepatitis C.

Anyone who would like a test for hepatitis C can order a free and discrete test to your home via the website: https://hepctest.nhs.uk/en-gb/order-a-test?ref=ntm1 or typing ‘Hep C Test’ in your web browser to visit the NHS web portal page.
