WEDNESDAY EVENING WALK

This is something new for us alongside our Sunday walks.

Weds 5th August, Meeting in the lay-by at Brynmawr Comprehensive at 5:30 and walking to Clydach Gorge tunnels, please bring a torch if you intend to go inside them.

Understanding Your Reactions

Sudden or unexpected death often triggers shock, disbelief, and numbness, as your mind struggles to process the loss. You may feel disconnected from reality, as if living in a dream, and experience physical symptoms such as shaking, nausea, or difficulty breathing. These reactions are normal protective responses from your nervous system and do not indicate weakness or failure.

Other common emotional responses include sadness, anger, guilt, fear, and anxiety. You may replay “what-if” scenarios or feel responsible for the death, even when it was unavoidable. These feelings are part of the grieving process and reflect the depth of your attachment to the person who died.

Healing does not mean forgetting. Over time, grief may become less intense, and you can carry the love and memory of your loved one into a meaningful life. Small steps, self-compassion, and support from others are key to navigating this difficult journey.
