💀 Don't forget the head! 💀
When you come to see me with a hip, groin, back or lower limb pain🦵I'll always assess your pelvis.
It's been long accepted that this bony bowl that holds vital organs, nerves and suspension can be twisted, torqued, asymmetrical or stiff through one side.
In other words, thrown out of a useful pattern of position or movement that contributes to a chain of struggle for the areas connected and depending on it
But so can your head 🤯
So when you come to see me for neck, shoulder, upper back, rib pain or headaches, I assess how the many interconnected parts of your cranium are moving, their position and how the system is managing tension and load.
After all, your head takes 1/3 of your blood flow 🩸from the heart, (which also has to leave as venous blood). It contains and protects your brain with both bone and membranous tension 💠
It also allows crucial nerves to enter and exit the brain and houses your special senses

Like the pelvis, the head it has some important muscles attached on - muscles that allow chewing and facial expression - and as a 3D structure, it can absorb traumatic forces that leave an imprint.
Think of the legacy of head injuries, facial injuries, dental work on this all important structure. Even whiplash leaves it's mark 🚗
This week a patient with neck pain who's treatment included their cranium said
"it's like you've just relieved a load of pressure in my head"
Music to my ears!
