The Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership is responsible for adult health and social care in the city of Edinburgh

Our colleagues work in health centres, GP Practices, community hospitals, care homes, nursing homes and communities across the city. Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership staff provide care and support for people with mental health problems, long term physical conditions, as well as substance misuse problems. The Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership also work with many charities, third sector and independent organisations to provide support.

The GP Walk-in Clinic at Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre will be temporarily relocated for one day only on Sunday 2 August 2026 to allow for essential maintenance work.

The service will continue to operate as normal for eligible patients between 12pm and 8pm at Sighthill Medical Centre, 380 Calder Road, Edinburgh EH11 4AU.

🧨 Share your views on firework control zones 🧨
We’d like to hear from people affected by fireworks as part of a consultation on Firework Controls (FCZs) for autumn 2026.
FCZs prohibit the use of fireworks within designated areas for a limited period and form part of a wider package of measures designed to improve public safety, reduce anti-social behaviour and support local communities during the fireworks season.
We are particularly keen to hear from residents as well as people with disabilities or sensory issues that may be more sensitive to fireworks. If you could share this with any groups or individuals you think may be affected,
The consultation will run from Wednesday 24 June until Wednesday 5 August on the City of Edinburgh Council’s website https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/firework-control-zones

Anyone affected by dementia is welcome to attend a community dementia day on Wednesday, 26 August, 2026 at the Craighall Centre, 210 Ferry Rd, Edinburgh from 10am to 3.30pm.

Residents from Jewel Care Home in Edinburgh enjoyed a trip to the beach to test out a new mode of transport.

A group from the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership run care home spent the day at Portobello Beach and tested out beach wheelchairs on the sand. The specially adapted chairs are available to hire for free from Beach Wheelchairs and allow those with mobility issues to enjoy the seaside.

The group also tucked into ice creams and chips while soaking up the atmosphere of the bustling beach.

Activity leader Manel said: "The residents had a lovely day at the beach and we lucked out with the weather being warm and sunny.
"The beach was busy with it being so sunny and the residents enjoyed seeing children playing and people enjoying the good weather.

"We hired Beach Wheelchairs for free, with manual and powered wheelchairs available. The volunteers were very helpful and it meant everyone could enjoy the beach."

Niddrie is looking brighter thanks to a new mural chosen with the help of residents at Castlegreen Care Home.

The Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership-run home is near the new colourful artwork to depict the history of the area. Residents helped to choose the theme of the mural and one resident, Mary, was asked to cut the ribbon at the unveiling last week.

Designed by artist Calum Carr, it replaces old graffiti which had become an eyesore.

A community group was set up to organise funds for the work with residents taking part in a consultation and choosing a historical theme for the art piece.

Activity leader at the Castlegreen Care Home, Amy Steele said: “We walk with residents to the local shop every day for a paper and they would often comment on the graffiti wall and how awful it looked.

“They were delighted when they heard about the scheme to fix it up, led by local man Calum Baird. He included the residents in his ideas and they took part in a survey to pick the winning design.

“The new mural is beautiful and many residents went along to the unveiling with Mary being chosen to do a speech and cut the ribbon. She was over the moon to be chosen for the honour and is now encouraging other residents to take part in a daily walk past the mural.

“It has really brightened the area and boosted the local community.”
