Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living LCiL is a person-led organisation supporting disabled people through the services we provide - enabling them to live as independently as possible.

The main aims of the Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living are:

Provide a range of services to support Independent Living, developed and managed by and for disabled people. Join us for our Community Connections peer support group for people living in Edinburgh!

Connecting Disabled People, those with long term health conditions and carers to peer support focused on all areas of social care.

Our peer support groups provide a safe space to connect with others through shared experiences with the aim to strengthen knowledge, skills and confidence in all aspects of Self-Directed Support (SDS) and available social care options.

The sessions are welcoming, relaxed and informal. We focus on bringing people together to discuss the aspects of SDS that matter to them.

This role involves supporting a 37 year old man who is on the autistic spectrum with some learning difficulties. He currently experiences low mood and social isolation. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s daily life. You will provide one-to-one support tailored to his needs, interests and goals.



Key Responsibilities: Encourage independence and support personal development. Assist with daily living tasks and routines. Accompany him on walks, outings and occasional day trips. Help build confidence and reduce social isolation. Encourage and support the use of public transport to build independent travel skills.



About You: Patient, empathetic, good sense of humour essential! Reliable and committed to providing consistent support. Enjoys walking, also comfortable using public transport and supporting others to do so. Able to build a positive, trusting relationship. Experience in a similar role preferred.



20 hours/week. Flexible working hours.

Clean driving license essential, current PVG.

I have a vacancy for a 7 hours per week, contracted personal assistant (PA) to support me as part of my PA team. The role will involve supporting me with personal care tasks that help me to maintain my health and be a part of my community. There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for male applicants due to the personal care involved with this role.



The following shifts are available in Penicuik and can be taken by one, or split up between several, applicants:

Tuesday 08:00-08:30
Thursday 07:00-07:30; 20:00-20:30
Friday 17:30-18:15
Saturday 17:30-18:00
Sunday 17:30-18:00


The following shift is available in Penicuik, or Shawfair:

Tuesday 16:45-20:30

The post holder

An ideal post-holder would be someone who is compassionate, friendly, calm and patient with a good sense of humour. There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for male applicants due to the personal care involved with this role.



Driver – desirable but not essential.



First aid and moving and handling qualifications are desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. Passing these qualifications is mandatory.



Would be required to have a PVG membership suitable for working with Vulnerable Adults or be willing to join the scheme. This is a legal requirement as the position is a regulated role.

The Post

1 X 20hrs POSITION – 20 hours (min) per week @ £14.82 per hour with 8-week trial period with the possibility of increased hours

There will be an opportunity for the occasional sleepover £110.88 per night (2200hrs – 0700 hrs) once fully trained.

A fun loving, mischievous, enthusiastic and caring 34-year-old woman with disabilities, who loves living life to the full (Central Edinburgh) is looking to employ a life enabling companion. She is seeking a dynamic, energetic person to join a team of personal assistants that will bring friendship, confidence and laughter into her daily living.

This is a unique position which would be ideally suited to proactive fun-loving people who also have a love of animals, dogs in particular as the client is on a waiting list for a replacement assistance dog (Canine Partner). Your role will be to enhance the client’s confidence, helping to further her social activities and to help support her on occasions with her activities brought into her own home – music weekly and Bobath physiotherapy every other week.

The nature of the role is companionship and supporting her to do all the things she would like to do in a happy and relaxed environment. The client requires assistance with meals and drinking, personal care and leisure activities, and loves the outdoors. You must be of a caring and friendly nature with a good sense of humour and most importantly, a love of fun!

Good communication skills are essential and so the successful applicant must be native speaker ie fluent in English (spoken/ written) and have excellent listening skills.

Disabled child in Pumpherston looking for two support workers to help her with daily living. The young person needs two to one support. When the young girl is having a good day, she will need support to go out and have fun, for example by going to the park or out for a walk. On other days you will be supporting her at home, helping her to play and relax.

It is essential that the postholders have experience with working with disabled children. The job will involve tracheostomy care, Basic Life Saving (BSL) and gastrostomy care, along with some moving and assistance. It would be useful if the postholders have experience/knowledge in those areas, although full training will be given. It is essential that the postholders be members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme or willing to join.

The post will consist of one five hour shift per week either on a Friday afternoon or the weekend. Some flexibility would be required, especially over school holidays. There may also be very occasional overnight support needed but this will be discussed at interview.
