Edinburgh Headway Group

Edinburgh Headway Group Supporting adults with acquired brain injuries and their families for over 40 years. http://www.edinburghheadway.org.uk SC006528

We provide high quality person-centred rehabilitation services which support both adults with brain injuries and their carers. We know that brain injury can affect personalities as well as a person’s cognitive and physical abilities. Brain injury affects who we are - the way we think, act and feel.A brain injury can have a life changing effect on the individual, their families and carers. Some peo

ple will need to deal with significant and on-going difficulties with their memory, concentration, communication, emotions, behaviour, change of personalities as well as physical disability. These individuals may also face barriers when trying to re-enter the workplace and the wider community. We believe that everyone has something to contribute within Edinburgh Headway Group and the wider community – that every person with a brain injury should be valued, respected and deserves every opportunity to live a full and active life. Another wee update from volunteer Emma’s training for her fundraising run! Emma is absolutely smashing it 🤩

“30km done! 🏃‍♀️💪

Today was my longest training run so far, 30km
I started with Auldcathie District parkrun and then ran home along the canal. This meant the final 25km was actually on the Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultra course. It was great to get some proper practice on the route I’ll be tackling in October.

I found this run so hard, especially towards the end, but I’m so glad I did it. I was ready to give up at the half marathon distance as it was getting very hot and I was knackered but Andrew gave me a pep talk over the phone and it gave me the motivation to keep going ♥️.
I’ve been absolutely blown away by the support and donations so far, but I’d love to keep that total climbing for Edinburgh Headway Group.

If anyone would like to sponsor me, even a small donation of a couple of pound or a fiver makes a difference and helps support people affected by brain injury and their families. A share of my page is also very appreciated.

Thank you so much to everyone who is supporting me

Hear from Emma about her running training last week: 🏃🎉

"I’ve been training along the canal this week as a recce for race day, getting a feel for the route and putting in the miles. I even came across a family of swans along the way, which was a lovely surprise! 🦢 A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We’re already close to raising £500 for Edinburgh Headway Group, which is absolutely amazing and means so much to me and the charity."
