We all say we want to protect our athletes. But mental health is where so many careers are quietly won or lost, and it is too often the piece we leave to someone else. This conference puts it front and centre — serious, honest, evidence-led — thanks to a community that keeps turning up for it.

A standout example: a superb presentation from Dr Marcia Faustin, co-head team physician for the USA Gymnastics Women’s team, building the case for a biopsychosocial approach to athlete care and the real influence of social media on mental health — with Simone Biles herself as a powerful study in advocacy and resilience.

So the real question is not whether you care about your athletes. It is whether you are at the events that will genuinely help you protect them. If you are, this is one of them.

Congratulations to all involved. Already looking ahead to 2027 — and hoping to see far more of us from GB there.
