Drawing is a great way to gently explore being in your body. While practicing your creativity, building on skills and artistic techniques.

🦝 Set up a space where you feel safe, explore what safety feels like for you. Lay out your materials, what will you be drawing?

🎨 Allow your senses to dip into the different movements your arms and hands make, gently notice where your thoughts drift or what memories begin to play.

Using collage to decorate the scream box the other day. We decided on drawing a tea cup, a thin porcelain one, covered in colour flowers, holding in mind the statement... Spill the Tea...

We used a mixture of paper, clear pva glue and combining either ripping the paper with our hands or cutting with paper to create the collage layers under the cup.

What image will you create on your scream box? Thinking about decoration like camouflage over the screams contained within.

Squad goals... when the team gets to share fun dance emote moments.

Online gaming can be a great place to explore different friendship dynamics, meeting new people, setting boundaries, exploring expectations and what role you want to take on.

Also a space to meet your IRL friends and spend time exploring digital environments. Or make new ones, keeping online safety in mind and letting parents/care givers know who you're gaming with.

We offer therapeutic gaming in our individual and family sessions.

"Putting on a show"

What masking can sometimes feel like. It can feel necessary when we're struggling to feel like we belong in different parts of our lives. Thinking about the effort that goes into a "show". What is expected or demanded of us?

Using art and play to explore what masks we created. Where are we allowed to be ourselves, using cosplay as forms of expression and release of whats expected of us.

Using silliness and aspect of "clowning" around to find what things suit us or a space to explore what might get rejected in manageable ways.

Restoring our creative resources by exploring different art styles, process over perfection.

Thinking about different ways to approach rescripting the scary elements from our nightmares and creating a more manageable dream script to explore.

Puppets can be a great way to explore scary dreams, nightmares or even difficult social situations with friends and family.

Think about what characters from tv series, books, or OC's that you could make to take up the different roles?

Thinking about allyship, while making my new trans ally earrings. How do each of us who proudly call ourselves allies show up or stand up for the trans community.

Is it using our voices, or platforms, or physical bodies taking up space in marches or when we're called to stand with our trans community.

Is it spending time creating art, making pins, painting flags, placing trans flags in different parts of our city to for others to see.

We're glad that we're able to create a safe space for our clients by providing gender affirming therapy.

We love creating new items for our therapy room and sharing the mini "how to" on our website. We have just uploaded the Finger Puppet craft from the "Stolas" reel.

https://www.artfulthinking.co.uk/projects/finger-puppets

Finger puppets are a great way to role play different scenarios from your favourite tv series, books, movies, comics, animes...or get your characters to act out your own inventions.

What better way to help with our own fanfictions than making finger puppets to help act out our scenes? Learn to make your own felt finger puppets, so that you can recreate moments from your favourite games, series or books.

Stolas Finger puppet

We've started making our favourite characters into finger puppets for our therapy room. Reflecting on the cosy feelings our favourite character or TV series nostalgia inspire within ourselves.

Making our own versions of the characters into felt finger puppets so we can role play other fun scenarios or use them to explore some if our everyday ones.

Heart art project inspired from an earlier post taken from "Poisoned" by Jennifer Donnelly, thinking about the power of kindness. And changing and adopting our hearts.

Plus we love anatomically correct hearts so had fun trying different materials and processes together. While reflecting on what small or big acts of kindness we can do or have received from others.

Happy St Patrick's Day

We decided to make something quickly with the day in mind. Playing with clay, while thinking about all the things we like, household furniture with animal feet, the stories about a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Quick projects can be thrilling to do, letting ourselves get caught up in the flurry of movement, creative juices flowing, making in mindful flow.

Mindful flow means we can allow ourselves to take breaks, drink fluids, eat if we need to, and come back to. Practicing to be aware of how we feel in flow, how it impacts the way we approach our projects or special interests.
