- just finished this fabulous book. I highly recommend it and Frank my cat asked me to leave it with him so he could read it. Best read this year. Half way through Feminism for a world on fire too.

Enjoying the stunning weather at home on Skye this week. It's so important to take proper breaks so that I'm fresh and rested when taking care of patients. Our family agree.

Some of the lovely woodland photos from today. Such a beautiful space - I felt I could sit and just breathe! The birdsong and the river were the only noises. I could have stayed there all day.

Think I might go back on Friday.

Dr. Qing Li’s research at Tokyo's Nippon Medical School provided the first scientific proof that forest bathing (shinrin-yoku) boosts human immunity. He discovered that inhaling airborne tree chemicals called phytoncides increases the activity and count of Natural Killer (NK) cells and anti-cancer proteins.
A key takeaway from Dr. Li's landmark studies includes:
• Immune Spike: A 3-day, 2-night forest trip enhanced NK cell activity by approximately 50%, with some improvements lasting for up to 30 days.
• Biological Mechanism: Phytoncides (e.g., alpha-pinene and limonene) stimulate immune proteins like perforin and granulysin.
• Stress Reduction: Forest trips lowered the stress hormone cortisol, thereby preventing stress-induced immune suppression.
•  Urban Limitations: City visits yielded no such immunological or stress-relief benefits, proving the effect is tied to the forest environment.

IM BACK!!!

Hello everyone - it's been a wee bit time since I posted here. Ive had a bit of a break from social media - but time to connect again.

It's been a crazy busy few months - busy in clinic but also busy at home. My lovely wife Kim has had a wee jaunt off the island for a break whilst I held fort here. She will hold the household together later in the year (July) while I take a break. We are still at that position where we have too big a family to get away together - all in good time.

We have been very busy in the garden though - my herb garden is beginning to come alive - lots of photos and videos to come - later once they are more established.

We started growing in our Western isles polycarbonate tunnels Ltd. tunnel a month or so ago - and it's all beginning to look good. Today we had our first spinach, rocket and lettuce for lunch. I thought you might like to see some photos.

Let's see how many veg you can identify!!! (Catherine - no cheating!!)
