Feel Good Friday 🎉

Exam results week, and while we're all celebrating the students, we wanted to take a moment for the people who got them there.

Three cheers for the teachers. The ones who stayed back after the bell, who believed in a child on a bad day, who turned confusion into confidence one lesson at a time. The ones who gave up their evenings and weekends for extracurricular activities, because they knew it mattered just as much as what happened in the classroom. Results days get all the attention, but the work that built them happened quietly, over years, in classrooms and on pitches most of us will never see.

So here's to the educators. Thank you for everything you do, and for the students you'll never stop shaping.

Feel Good Friday: Next Season Is Nearly Here!
Late summer tends to bring a particular kind of physio enquiry, and it's not just football and rugby, it's swimmers, dancers, hockey players and gymnasts too. After the busyness of summer, pre-season training or a return to sport suddenly comes around, and the injuries we end up treating in September often have very little to do with September itself.
The body adapts to whatever load we give it, and it de-adapts just as quickly. A few weeks of easing back into running, strength work and the movements your sport actually demands will do far more for you than anything on the morning of day one.
If you're heading back into training and want a hand preparing for it, get in touch and we'll find a time that suits.
Recover. Perform. Thrive.

Feel Good Friday is all about a bit of self care, and this week we're shining a light on massage therapy. Across our Balerno and Newhaven clinics we have five brilliant massage therapists, each bringing their own touch to sports massage and restorative relaxing massage. Every session takes place in our own bespoke massage rooms, tucked within the physio clinics, so you get a proper moment of calm alongside expert care.
Whether you're working out tight muscles after training or just need an hour to switch off, there's a treatment and a therapist to suit you. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your body is simply let someone else look after it for a while.

You don’t have to leave every workout feeling exhausted for it to “count.”

Progress comes from showing up consistently over time, not from pushing yourself to the limit every session. In fact, exercising too hard too often can increase fatigue, delay recovery, and even raise your risk of injury.

Whether your goal is reducing pain, recovering from an injury, improving your fitness, or getting stronger, a sustainable approach is what leads to long-term results.

Small, consistent steps add up to big changes.👣

Feel Good Friday! Lisa here. Feeling contemplative this week after time off and thinking about what’s my why.
My 3 things to be grateful for this week(not necessarily in this order!): coffee, family and sea air 🌊 What are you grateful for this week?

When you’re injured, it’s natural to think the first step is getting an X-ray or MRI. However, not every injury requires imaging.

In many cases, a thorough physiotherapy assessment provides enough information to begin the right treatment. We assess your symptoms, movement, strength, and overall function to build a clear picture of what’s going on.

Scans certainly have their place, but they’re most useful when the results will change your diagnosis or treatment plan. They can also show age-related changes that are completely normal and may not be the cause of your pain.

That’s why we don’t rely on imaging alone. We look at the whole picture to decide whether a scan is needed and create a treatment plan that’s tailored to you and your goals. 💙

Feel Good Friday! Here’s what’s been happening in our clinics today: Our day in Balerno kicked off with Physio-led Pilates at 7.30am, followed by the clinic physios starting at 8.30am. The gym was buzzing with Strength classes at 9am and 10am, upstairs our Barre class was at 9.45am and we’ll be winding down the week with Yin Yoga at 6pm. Our massage therapists have been busy across our Balerno and Newhaven clinics, and our Newhaven team have been busy looking after our clients there too.
Grateful for a busy day with lovely people. Have a great weekend everyone!

Many people avoid running because they’re worried it will “wear out” their knees. In reality, our joints are designed to adapt to the loads we place on them. When training is progressed gradually, the muscles, tendons, bones, and cartilage all become stronger and more resilient.

Like any activity, problems are more likely to arise when we do too much, too soon or return too quickly after an injury. That’s why a gradual, well-planned approach is so important.

Whether you’re lacing up your trainers for the first time, getting back into running after a break, or returning following an injury, we’re here to help. We can guide you through a personalised return-to-running plan, build your confidence, and help you enjoy running safely and sustainably.🏃‍♀️
