Do braces actually work for scoliosis? π©Ί
The honest answer: only in specific cases.
The evidence shows bracing is most effective during adolescence β while the spine is still growing. In a skeletally immature patient, a well-fitted brace can help prevent a curve from progressing and, in many cases, avoid the need for surgery.
Once growth is complete, that window closes. Bracing won't correct an established curve in an adult spine.
Which is exactly why accurate diagnosis and timing matter so much.
