It’s often easier to point out the faults, flaws, or wrongs in another person, a group of people, or a community.
Judgement is a self preservation mechanism, and it is not always something negative. It can protect us from harm, but it can also act as a mirror, reflecting our fears, wounds, and shadow parts back to us.
Sometimes, what we strongly react to in others may be connected to something within ourselves, a behaviour, trait, experience, or emotion we once carried or still carry. We may not like it, feel proud of it, or even want to acknowledge it. Seeing it in someone else can create distance from those uncomfortable feelings and help us avoid processing them.
Taking time to look into our own mirror can be uncomfortable, even painful, but it is also where growth begins.
Self awareness invites healing, understanding, and compassion, both for ourselves and for others.
