THIS YEAR’S CHARITY IS CANCER RESEARCH.

The team starts with the 10k Shine Night Walk - we’ve got a fab crew of amazing Pilates members and friends doing the 10k walk in Liverpool on the 4th Sept. This will be a fabulous challenge and we hope to raise some well needed funds for this amazing charity. If anyone fancies sponsoring us or donating prizes instead for the Christmas raffle I’d be grateful!

Thank you all! AJ x

First week back and clinic has been utterly bonkers. Thank you!!

With tennis elbows, rotator cuff injuries, bursitis complaints, hamstring rehabs, disc pathologies, ACL trauma and finger arthritis complaints it’s been a varied full week, filled with amazing patients choosing my clinic at the Whitby Club and entrusting me with their care!

I raise a glass this evening to celebrate my 15 year Anniversary today of moving to the Club - I love my home there and am blessed with the community that moving there has opened my life to. Thank you!

Finally so sorry to the waiting list this week that I just couldn’t fit in, I am so so sorry! I finished tonight at 8.30pm, which I think is enough!

So here’s to my Anniversary - cheers everyone! Now I’m looking forward to a good sleep tonight and ready to teach my Mobility Masterclass tomorrow!

Ever looked at your knee MRI report and wondered, “What on hell is lateral femoral bone marrow oedema?” If you’ve recently torn your lateral meniscus, finding out you also have bone marrow oedema (BME) can sound scary, but it’s actually your bone’s way of saying: “Christ, I took a heavy hit!”Think of your lateral meniscus as the ultimate rubber shock absorber on the outside of your knee. When it tears, two major things happen that lead to bone oedema (which is basically a deep bone bruise):

1️⃣ The Impact: During a sudden twist or injury, your thigh bone and shin bone violently collide, crushing the meniscus in the middle and bruising the bone.

2️⃣ The Overload: Without a fully functioning meniscus to absorb the shock, daily weight-bearing places massive, unbuffered stress directly onto the bone marrow.

What does this mean for your recovery?

🔹 More deep pain: BME is a major pain generator.

🔹 Patience is key: Bone bruises take time to drain and heal—often longer than the meniscus itself.

🔹 Modified loading: You might need crutches, a brace, or a temporary break from high-impact training to let the bone rest. Listen to your body, give the bone time to heal, and work closely with your physio or ortho crew.

So that’s me out for a wee while! Clinician heal thyself. Lateral meniscus tear, BME, condromalacia patella and ITB friction. How frustratingly boring and I am a notoriously crap patient 🤣

This is the face of a champion!

I don’t think I have wide enough vocabulary to give this man’s accomplishments enough justice. He absolutely amazes me every day with his commitment to his training and this weekend showed exactly what he is made of. I am beyond proud, humbled and inspired.

Our amazing Parky just achieved 4th place at the GB Ultras Race Across Scotland!! Racing 224 miles across Scotland’s notoriously tough terrain and I think these 2 photos show exactly what it means to him!

Jon is the most humble athlete, one of his 1st comments to me was to give credit to his support crew for helping him achieve it. He is not only humble but also so caring of others and so deserves this.

He has trained hard, recovered well and learnt more about himself this last year than I have seen over the years I have worked with him. If anyone deserves this it’s you Jon!

Huge congratulations Jon Park, now please make the next challenge a little shorter - “dot watching” for a full weekend is exhausting!

Let’s be more like Jon, let’s do hard things!

Pilates is great for fitness, but CLINICAL PILATES is a targeted therapy for your body!!

🩺Clinical Pilates sessions are led by degree qualified clinicians and classes are small!
This means you get the social energy of a group class, alongside the expert, individual attention your body needs. Here is how the clinical approach differs:

🔹 Tailored Injury Rehab: they’re not generic routines. Every patient is screened and exercises adapted to support recovery, whether you are managing chronic back pain or recovering from a sports injury.

🔹 Better Biomechanics: With just 12 people per class, your form is monitored and adjusted, targeting the deep stabilising muscles that protect your spine and making you feel confident that you’re doing the moves correctly!

🔹 Safe, Low-Impact Movement: Every session focuses on precise, controlled movements, meaning you get all the strengthening benefits without overloading your joints. You don’t just help to exercise—you’re educated to help you understand how your body moves so you can prevent future injuries and stay active for longer.

I have just 1 space left now on a Friday 10.30 but have 2 spaces left for the MOBILITY MASTERCLASS this Saturday at 12pm!
Invest in smart movement with expert guidance. Your body will thank you for it!

Why is it important that your clinician is registered with a professional body?

To ensure the highest standard of patient safety and clinical excellence, I maintain active professional registration and compliance with the SPORTS THERAPY ASSOCIATION, so why do I feel it’s important? It’s accountability, maintaining professional code of conduct and practice, demonstrating continuous professional development and putting patient care first.

When you undergo assessment and treatment at my clinic, your care is backed by rigorous clinical benchmarks:

🛡️ Full Professional Indemnity: Complete clinical accountability through comprehensive professional liability and malpractice insurance.

🎓 Evidence-Based Qualifications: Formally vetted, university-level qualifications in musculoskeletal assessment, sports injury management and pathophysiology.

🚨 First Aid: Certified proficiency in immediate pitch-side trauma management and emergency first aid.

📈 Mandatory CPD Compliance: Continuous Professional Development ensures my diagnostic, manual therapy, and rehabilitation protocols align with the latest peer-reviewed clinical research.

🤝 Clinical Code of Ethics: Strict adherence to professional boundaries, patient confidentiality (GDPR), and evidence-based scopes of practice.

This is why it’s important to vet your clinician! Do not compromise your physical health or injury rehabilitation on unverified care. Always verify that your practitioner holds professional registration.
