Logically⊠you might know that you are now in a place of safety. But that doesnât mean you always FEEL safe.
Our minds may understand that our environment is safe, but perhaps our body just didnât get the memo!
Maybe youâre struggling to switch off from painful memories, constantly waiting for things to go wrong, or preparing for the worst before anything has even happened.
Our bodies can hold on to the effects of trauma for much longer than we might actually be fully aware of⊠so our responses donât always immediately catch up with our circumstances.
Therapy can be a place for you to understand these patterns and look at them with a bit more kindness, rather than constantly trying to convince yourself that you âshouldâ be fine.
Youâre allowed to be gentle with the parts of you that are still learning that itâs safe now. đ€
