Question is: What style of coaching suits you?

Everyone is different and people respond to different approaches. As a previously coached runner (now coach myself) I felt the coaches I had, never really 'Got me going'. They meant well, but didn't connect exactly on my level. . .
. .And honestly, I've not connected perfectly well with every runner I've coached. I've made many mistakes with my own methods and probably will many more. Still learning.

Some don't need you to say a word, some need to hear it gently, some want constructive feedback, some want it in black and white. . .
. .I suppose the skill as a coach is, understanding which one is needed for each individual. . .
. .one thing I can't hide inside is maximum passion!

Pleased to announce that the Run Performance Lab will be collaborating with . It’s great to have a local run specific store, where we can confidently direct clients for thier running shoes. Working alongside other local businesses like Cadence will help better serve the runners or Hull and East Yorkshire :)

Very honoured to be a sponsor for this year’s South Cave 10k. I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to my local run community and work with Kingston upon Hull Athletics Club. Only two more weeks to go- looking forward to seeing people there!

Simple questions, but often hard to answer:

I once heard that "success is having the ability to do what you want, when you want, with who you want"

I suppose that will may look very different for everyone. For me, its. . .

1) Running & Training without pain or Injury, and
Helping as many as I can with the above 👆

2) Fulfilling my 'potential' in the area I love (running), and helping as many as I can with the above 👆

3) Living a life which is full of memories with the people I love and care about, and helping as many as I can with the above 👆

Runperformancelab has been helping with the above for over 15 years now, can we help you to?

Here's some fundamental drills to help any athlete run quicker:

A-Skip
B-Skip
C-Skip

Perfrom 5-10 times on each leg, before a hard workout or race.

These will help your speed, coordination and overall running mechanics.

Very popular amongst Kenyan runners to help build tendon stiffness by activating the 'stretch-reflex'

Ideally done after a steady warm up (10-15 mins a light jogging), followed by some strides👇

Strides are sub maximal sprints, designed to help you bridge the warm up and the workout. I Recommend doing 4 x 15-20 seconds with a steady jog back recovery. Starting approximately 80% of your 'maximum' speed, accelerating to 90-95%, before gently decelerating.

performed the above before a hard interval session, where he ran 3 x 500m in 71 seconds, as he continues his quest of running 13:45 for the 5000m and his first GB vest🤞🙏🐢

Well done to Oli on a brilliant solo effort at this morning's Hull Parkrun. Taking 24 seconds off the old Course Record, which has stood for over 15 years, by running 14:22!

Todays ends part 1 of a peak record breaking week for Oli, with the main event next weekend

Check out his progression from 2014, when he was only 10 years old 🫨

Oli is a Hull born local lad, living only 2 miles down the road from East Park. He's proud to put Hull and the local parkrun on the map🙌

Stay turned for some more news about his progress
