A summer of practising and upgrading my equipment is finally paying off. I am at last shooting with some accuracy at 50 metres. I finally feel I can live up to my house name, Archery Cottage.

My new clients often comment on the name in relation to acupuncture and it always makes me smile. There must be a cartoon out there somewhere that combines my two passions. 😄

We saw our first rain in forever last night. The sky suddenly darkened and the heavens opened. I was on a Zoom call and heard my children run from the house to walk in it. They have always loved the rain.

When I came off my call they pulled me outside to watch the sunset. It drops down at the end of our road. It was one of the first things I loved about this street the way it fell away to the fields beyond. It took me a while to realise I would also be gifted beautiful sunsets.

So here we are heading into festival season. My boys following in my footsteps and taking on volunteer roles of their own. A new generation of young adults moving into running the home education festivals they grew up loving.

Nights under canvas, just in time for the August meteor showers.
Don't forget to look up. 💫😊

Who knew that networking would lead to this!!

I decided to set myself a goal to improve my skills at arial hammock so I committed to do the showcase at The Pole Shed later this year.

I found my song and as I visualised the moves I wished I had long hair to flick but I just disregarded it. I couldn't have predicted what came next.

I bumped in to the lovely Helena at Coffee & Connections at Willow Grange Farm and before I knew it I had a new look for the price of a haircut and I've had soooo much fun. I just need a name now for my alter ego.

Good morning ☕

This is how I spend my first 10 minutes of each day. In my dressing gown with a hot drink, the blackbird, robin and ginkgo biloba tree I am temporary guardian to.

I do this grounding practice for a number of reasons but balancing my circadian rhythm is one of them. A small act with big results.

Here's the science behind it:
We release hormones based on different light tones because our circadian biology evolved according to our environment.

This gentle start to my day exposes my body to light with more blue tones, which suppresses melatonin production and signals to my body it is time to release activity hormones such as cortisol. The body’s natural morning activation hormone.

In the evenings we historically experienced twilight and firelight these are warm tones that signal to our bodies it is time to rest and melatonin rises again.

This small practice of 10mins sets the tone for my whole day. 😊

I love this picture because it reminds me of a really good moment.

It was a hot day. We had gone to archery at 6am to avoid the sun. By 9am it was already getting warm and we were packing up. We stayed a little longer, waiting to say hi to a fellow archer on his way to shoot in the heat. He is hardcore. 😄

I sat in the shade of my car boot in this beautiful spot we shoot in, sharing jokes and stories with friends. Someone who loves to take pictures caught me in that moment.

Archery has given me this a community, a beautiful space and mornings that feel like coming home.

Even though I have been here a year now I am still discovering new places. The country park pictured below I discovered only last week and will definitely be going back.

We're moving into summer which is naturally a more expansive time, my clinic is growing into a familiar shape and my boys are taking exams. Our lives are mirroring the season and a comfortable rhythm is forming.

As I sat down to write my blog it was an opportunity to reflect on how this run-down house has become a home and how I am navigating the exam season we are currently in.

What a beautiful class The Pole Shed yesterday we had a great conversation about the all important art of pottering. It is a very overlooked activity that not only helps to reset our nervous system but has the added bonus of sorting all those small but distracting tasks in our environment.

Such a lovely way to start my Sunday I always walk away with a calm and centred feeling along with the attendees.

✨ Bank Holiday Bliss at The Pole Shed ✨

Three beautiful souls chose to spend their bank holiday Sunday morning with me.

As well as our nervous system reset and deep rest in the hammocks we explored how to connect to your body's own innate wisdom. Your intuitive yes and your intuitive no.

Every single person in the room experienced it. Felt it in real time in their own body.

That moment when someone discovers their body has been communicating with them all along and they just needed to slow down enough to hear it.....there are no words for that.

If you've been feeling disconnected, exhausted or like you've lost touch with yourself, this is the place to come.

💛 Next session: Sunday 17th May at 10am at The Pole Shed
💛 Small group, safe space, no experience needed
💛 30 years of holistic healthcare experience
