A little something different from me today…

Alongside my counselling and supervision work, I also support therapists with the practical side of building and growing a private practice through Paige&Pixel.

I know from conversations with counsellors that the business side of private practice can sometimes feel like a whole new world — websites, online presence, finding the right words, and making sure potential clients can actually find you.

Paige&Pixel have just started blog posts with practical tips and ideas to support therapists on that journey.

This one explores "What Should a Counsellor Website Include? A Simple Guide for Therapists in Private Practice" — a helpful read if you’re thinking about your online presence or developing your private practice.

✨ You Don’t Have to Keep Holding Everything Together Alone ✨

Sometimes people reach out for counselling because something "big" has happened. Big is different for everyone, and it's different to the same person at different times within their own life.
Sometimes people come for counselling because they’re simply exhausted from coping for too long on their own or because they want somewhere to talk other than with family or friends.

Everyone is different and that's ok.

Anxiety, overthinking, relationship difficulties, grief, burnout, low self-esteem, feeling stuck, or just not feeling like yourself anymore can quietly build over time until everyday life starts to feel heavier than it should.

Counselling with me offers a confidential, supportive space where you can speak openly without judgement, pressure or expectation. Together, we can begin to make sense of what’s going on, take time to settle and explore it together and when ready explore patterns and find ways forward that feel realistic and meaningful for you.

I offer online video sessions across the UK using Zoom or Meet during weekday daytime sessions.

If you’ve been thinking about starting counselling, this could be the right time to take that first step.

📩 To contact me directly and ask any questions about counselling or arrange an introductory call then Whatsapp me on 07841 954337 or email [email protected].

Ever thought your breakfast could change how your whole day feels?

This morning I made a simple bowl of porridge—but gave it a little more care and attention than usual. Fresh mango, banana and grapes from the local greengrocer, finished with a small grating of dark chocolate over the top. It took minutes, but it felt nourishing in a way that went beyond just eating.

It got me thinking about how often we rush through the basics—food, rest, small moments of enjoyment—especially when life feels busy or overwhelming. Yet these small, intentional choices can gently shift how we feel, helping us start the day feeling more grounded and resourced.

If you’re noticing things feel a bit full or heavy lately, it might not always be about big changes. Sometimes it starts with something as simple as slowing down for your breakfast.

What’s one small thing you could do today to take care of yourself?

Many of the people I work with hold responsible roles supporting the public every day. Over the years I have had private clients who work within organisations such as the National Health Service, Kent Police, Metropolitan Police Service, the Kent Fire and Rescue Service, and within local authorities including Kent County Council and Surrey County Council, as well as those working in schools, academy trusts and social services.

Some are frontline workers. Others hold senior or leadership roles. What many of them share is the wish to speak to someone completely independent from their workplace.

While many organisations provide internal wellbeing support or employee assistance programmes, some people prefer to arrange counselling privately. For them, it can feel easier to talk openly when the space is fully separate from work structures. That independence can bring a stronger sense of confidentiality, trust and respect, allowing people to share honestly about the pressures they carry, the experiences they manage, and the way work can sometimes affect both professional and personal relationships.

In counselling, the aim is to create a space where you can speak freely and feel genuinely heard. My approach is collaborative and thoughtful. I’m not a silent counsellor. I work alongside you, exploring what is happening, reflecting on patterns and, where helpful, gently discussing and gently challenging things so experiences can be processed and understood in ways that help you move forward.

Many people working in demanding roles are used to being the one others rely on. Counselling can be a place where you don’t have to carry everything on your own.

I work with clients via online video and sessions can be booked regularly or more flexibly around shift patterns. Daytime and weekday appointments are currently available.

If you’re thinking about counselling and would like to see whether we might work well together, please feel free to get in touch.

I’m not a silent counsellor 😜, but I do listen — really listen — to your experiences, your perspective, and what you want to keep or change in your life. I take time to hear what matters to you, to notice patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and to gently reflect these back so we can explore them, make sense of them, and think things through together in a way that feels supportive, open, and collaborative.

💻 I'm fully trained for online video counselling and currently have availability with spaces on Mondays and Thursdays. If these days do not suit you, please feel free to get in touch, as I may be able to offer other options.

🎓As well as online video counselling, I also offer clinical supervision (individual and groups) for other counsellors and therapists so reach out in a message if you'd like to find out more.

Today is National Love Your Pet Day 🐾 — the perfect excuse to celebrate the animals who quietly run our lives (and hearts).

Marley is an anxious but deeply kind and loving dog who wants to know what I’m doing every minute of every day 🐶💙 His gentle watchfulness, loyalty and need to stay close are a constant reminder to slow down, stay connected, and feel cared for.

Whether we’re walking or just sitting together, he brings comfort, calm and a lot of love 🌊☕️

How are you celebrating your furry sidekick/pet today?

Ever feel like life is one minor inconvenience away from boiling over… just like this saucepan of porridge? 😅

When stress, pressure, emotions and expectations quietly build, it does not take much for things to spill over. Feeling overwhelmed is often a sign that the heat has been turned up for too long.

Counselling can help you slow things down, lower the temperature, and make sense of what is happening, so life feels steadier, calmer, and more manageable again.

If your pan is bubbling over, maybe it is time to turn the heat down. Message me via WhatsApp on 07841 954337 to book a free consultation call and let us talk about how counselling could support you.

Spaces available ☕ Monday Morning Forward-Focused Supervision Group

Would it help to start the month with clearer direction and a practical plan for what you actually need to get done? This morning group supervision space is designed for qualified counsellors who want a focused, collaborative hour to think ahead, make decisions, and move projects forward, rather than carrying everything alone.

Meeting on the second Monday of each month at 9.15am, this one-hour online group brings together up to four counsellors for structured, forward-looking discussion. Alongside brief recognition of what has recently been happening in practice, the emphasis is on planning next steps for client work and business development, breaking larger projects into manageable actions, and mapping progress across longer-term projects. This may include preparing for upcoming client work, reviewing workload and capacity, or clarifying priorities within private practice.

The group offers space to talk ideas through, sense-check plans, and benefit from the motivation and accountability that comes from sharing objectives with others who understand counselling work. Sessions are facilitated by me as a qualified counsellor and supervisor, via online video and the small group size ensures everyone has time to clarify goals, refine actions, and leave with a clearer sense of what comes next.

Spaces available 🥪 Friday Lunchtime Collaborative Supervision Group

Do you miss having colleagues to think things through with, bounce ideas around, and occasionally have a good laugh with? Private practice can be meaningful and absorbing, and it can also feel a little quiet when all the thinking happens in your own head. This monthly group supervision space is designed to bring back some of the energy of working in a team, with shared discussion, fresh perspectives, and that slightly buzzy feeling that comes from thinking together.

The group is intended to feel like a professional team huddle or working lunch: a chance to step back from the therapy room, stretch your thinking, share what is on your mind, and enjoy the warmth and humour that naturally comes from being alongside others who get the work. Sessions are hosted by a qualified counsellor and supervisor, via online video, and kept small, with a maximum of three supervisees, so everyone has equal time to bring what feels important, whether that is client work, practice development, or the realities of sustaining private practice.
