Extended Family Relationship

Esther and Her Extended Family ( the Jews)
Esther is now married to the most powerful man in the world and settled. But at the same time there had been a problem brewing in the background. It was between Mordecai- her big cousin or "father" (since he raised her up, for she was orphaned very early in life) and Haman, the second in command, to the king. Haman was determined to destroy Mordecai and by extension all Jews for the sake of their belief and culture which he felt was disrespectful of him.
Esther was sent a message, by Mordecai, to alert her of the genocide that was about to take place and wanted her to get her husband, the king, to help out.
Esther thought about it and was worried for what was coming ahead. But the question was, "should l bring up such a delicate matter before my husband? Should l disturb this young marriage to the king, with my family issues? Should l not "leave and cleave"? What if the king does not extend the staff of favour to me and I'm as such sentenced to death" ? So many questions and so many challenges to deal with. Esther's first reaction was to turn it down. But because of the challenge and encouragement by Mordecai, she decided to take on the task even if it meant her life.

This delicate step was not to be taken however without adequate prayer covering. So Esther requested for all Jews to fast and pray for her. Like we know, the king looked favourably on Esther and her people; and was willing to do all that it took to save his wife's people.
Extended family issues remain one of the biggest challenges to marriages across cultures today.
Should we follow this example? Are there needs and situations in our extended families, that should make us risk rocking our marriage? Are we to accept our in-laws as ours family or are we to stick to our spouses only?
Is there a way we can respond to our extended family needs without affecting our relationships with our spouses?
These are some of the issues we need to ponder upon with our spouses and arrive at a safe, balanced and biblical solution.

I believe that for us to have a successful relationship with our in-laws , the first step is to have a frank talk with our spouses regarding this and come to a decision on the rules of engagements. I also know that no matter how much we discuss, if we don't start on the basis of love we are likely to have difficulties along the line.
This matter runs deep into the very roots of marriage itself. When you get married to anyone both of you become one and a new family unit. While this is now your family primarily, let's not forget that this does not mean the death of the families we came out from. The husband remains a son to his parents while the wife remains a daughter to her parents.
It is an illusion to think that these relationship fade away into oblivion when we get married. We then find rather that we remain connected to our families one way or another.

The bible is our basis and foundation for a successful marriage. Now tell me if you can find one reference in scriptures that decry relationships with our now extended family members.
So, aom to build healthy relationships.

Marriage is made in heaven but assembled on earth using the manufacturer's manual.

Marriage concept is heaven's and by that all marriages are made in heaven. If you decide to get married you have bought into heaven's idea using flat pack of your choice.

But your particular choice of flat pack can be derived from advice given by the manufacturer God, who based on your peculiarities can recommend what is best suited for you.
So you can enjoy an easier assembling and better function if guided from the start with your choice of materials.
Some choose an easier package while Some choose a harder package. Whatever the case, your success is dependent on how much you pay attention to the manufacturers manual.
I have ordered materials before that that were brain draining and emotionally wracking; time consuming and energy sapping. I have learnt to employ a professional to help me with putting it together or an experienced friend/family to come to my aid.
Some product come almost fully ready for use. All you do is to open it up and screw 1 or 2 parts. They are usually also more expensive and so it's for those who can pay the price.
So it is in marriage. You need to seek the Lord and help from counsellors who can make you understand your peculiar situation better.

A man lost his wife and spent five years
grieving before he remarried.
His new wife came into the marriage with love, patience, and a genuine desire to build a peaceful home. She respected his late wife's memory and tried everything she could to win the hearts of his children.
But the children refused to accept her.
To them, she was nothing more than a replacement for their late mother.
Now they've given their father an ultimatum:
"Leave her and marry the woman we choose for you."
This raises a difficult question...
Should children have the right to decide who their widowed parent marries?
Or should a parent be free to choose a partner who brings them happiness, even if the children disagree?
If you were the father, what would you do?
Let's discuss respectfully. πŸ‘‡

23 YEARS AND STILL COUNTING. We are counting our wins on the marriage voyage. Through the thick and thin, twists and turns, dark tunnels, and toiling on this journey so far, we have had unveilings for our learning, which keeps expanding with varieties and has also brought us to new horizons.
The foundation, without any doubt, was established on the Solid Rock and inexhaustible Fountain. He, being the Author of life and of every good thing, gave us access to draw endlessly.
Through the grace of Almighty God, unfailing love, and choice, we have come this far, enjoying beautiful additions and being built into one whole, as envisioned at the beginning. Praise to the God of all flesh and of all grace.

How much can we give in appreciation? Our sincere thanks also go to all who, directly and indirectly, have been used to shape us, such that we are able to manage ourselves in different seasons and experiences. Alleluia.

Euthumeo

It means to be merry or happy.

James 5.13 says, is any merry(euthumeo), let him sing songs of praise.

When was the last time you broke out into praise songs in your home, in the kitchen, while doing that DIY etc.
You may say there is nothing to be happy about.
You can sing because you are genuinely happy, but you can also sing to create an atmosphere of joy in you and your family.
This famous proverb says ("A merry heart doeth good like a medicine") Proverbs 17:22.
May the sound of joy never end in our homes in Jesus name. Amen πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ™πŸ½

How did you introduce your spouse to your parents?πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

I pulled up this lovely and fun memory few days back πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€!
For me it was garri (cassava flour)😁!
Since I was hardly ever seen alone with or visited at home by any lady, before getting engaged, I thought I should give my mum the chance to see Augustina Uwadiae first. So when she went to the city from the university, I encouraged her to stop by my house and pass my request for garri (one of the most basic Nigerian meal) to my mum and bring it to me. She did and did my mum get the message? You bet!🀣🀣🀣🀣πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

BROKEN PROMISES, BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS.
Marriage is an institution based on promises made. It starts based on promises made and ends due to promises broken.
If you are one who cannot keep your promises, should you be considering getting married? If the person you are dating cannot keep a simple promise, is that not a red flag?

Seven very serious "You Saids" that you shouldn't mess with:

You said you will forsake all others...
You said all that's your is mine..

You said you will never leave me...
You said you will never raise your hand against me again...
You said you will protect me...
You said the bedroom will not be a bargaining chip....
You said you will help with the children and chores.....

The seriousness of the matter is in the fact that it is the FAILURE TO KEEP WHAT WE MIGHT CONSIDER AS THE LESS SERIOUS "You Saids," THAT LEAD TO THE BREAKDOWN OF RELATIONSHIPS!

Scripture says:
Matthew 5:37 NKJV
[37] "But let your β€˜Yes’ be β€˜Yes,’ and your β€˜No,’ 'no'......"

Not every dog that barks at you deserves your attention.
Maturity is realizing that reacting to everything is a distraction, not strength. Because purpose isn’t found in chasing everything,
but in focusing on what God has called you to. Some battles are distractions. Some silence is power. Growth begins the moment you stop throwing stones at every noise and start guarding your energy.
Sometimes, the real power is in walking away, staying steady, and keeping your eyes on where God is taking you.
Silence isn’t weakness.
It’s discipline. The Lord said β€œβ€œIn quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.” You will be fine. Good morning and a blessed weekend
