As part of our conference offerings, our UK HERD Instructor, Dr. Danielle Mills, will be leading a virtual session DURING the conference and you're welcome to attend this session for FREE. We're offering this as part of the conference agenda to allow for folks who are in-person with us to have a slower start to the day in the comfort of their rooms/lodgings and to include those of you who can't join us in-person.
So, log in on SATURDAY, JULY 11th @8.30AM ET (1.30PM UK time).
Danielle will be presenting on Neurodivergent Affirming Practices.
This presentation explores what it means to work in a neurodivergence-affirming way through Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy and Learning. Drawing on the neurodiversity paradigm and non-pathologising practice, it will consider the language and concepts we use, how neurodivergence can be understood beyond deficit-based models, and how lived experience, sensory awareness, embodiment, and relational safety can shape equine-facilitated work. It will also highlight how the HERD model already embeds many of these principles through its emphasis on here-and-now awareness, phenomenological curiosity, relational encounter, and respectful cross-cultural ways of working with difference. Using practical examples and case studies, the presentation will explore how sessions can be adapted to support different neurotypes, communication styles, sensory
needs, and ways of relating, while centering authenticity, co-regulation, and meaningful connection.
