Spooks & Co. All kinds of paramornal investigation, and all things spooky

This grave is located in Middleham Cemetery in Manchester. A gentleman who had lost his wife went into a Spiritualist Church and asked to see a medium. A private sitting was arranged and all the medium could get for him was....
"go and photograph the grave"
He did so and this is the result. The medium was not aware, of course, that his wife and baby had died. The sitter did not in fact know (at the time) that his wife was pregnant.

A set of circular "witch traps” in front of a hearth inside the Fleece Inn at Bretforton in Worcestershire. I don’t generally use the term “witch marks” as most of the symbols we see marked on church porches and the timbers of old buildings had very little to do with witchcraft specifically, but in this rare case it seems appropriate.

These were marked out to protect the building against the malign intentions of any witches in the area, with the idea being that the circles would confuse any toad, mouse or insect the witch sent down the chimney to do their maleficium, trapping them within as they ran round and round following the circle.

These circular examples of apotropaic markings have been here for at least 250 years, chalked over again and again before being painted on permanently after a fire at the pub. There is a picture on one wall from 1977 showing legendary landlady Lola Taplin re-chalking the circles, while other more mysterious protection symbols can also be seen on the floor of the building, one of them a primitive animal shape.

The Fleece was awarded “Best Country Pub” in the Great British Pub awards last year so it’s well worth a visit at any time, but be sure and take a look at the various protection markings in the parlours - as far as I know these are the only markings of this type in an English pub.

*👻MEET THE TEAM👻*

ALAN DARCY. Technical Equipment specialist.

How did you get into the Paranormal?

I experienced various paranormal phenomena as a child and it intensified as a teenager. Rather than being scared of it, I was intrigued and hooked.

How many investigations have you been on?

My investigations, both public and private, would be about the 650 mark.

What is your speciality ?

My specialty is acting as a bridge, to enable spiritual energies to speak to us and show themselves on screen.
They all have information to pass to us.

What the spookiest thing you’ve seen/experienced ?

There have been quite a few scary moments, but the one that stands out is from Drakelow Tunnels.
I was conducting a public vigil, using the Franks Box and a plasma lamp. There were 16 people in the room, all in a circle, when a very large figure manifested behind the circle.
Four of the guests and myself saw it forming and moving around the outside of the circle. Then suddenly the guest it was stood behind was violently pushed forward and onto the floor.
There was a lot of screaming, (from the guests, not me lol) and a lot of torches were quickly switched on!

Where is your favourite location so far?

My top location is a duel between Drakelow Tunnels and the Spirit House (Evesham).
So many strange phenomena were witnessed numerous times in both!
