🍃 Courses & education
🍃 Preparation & integration

Onaya Science is a non-profit organisation focused on investigating the therapeutic potential of Amazonian plant medicines. Working alongside Shipibo curanderos, our team of scientists and collaborative laboratories continues to expand as we develop new experiments. Studying the healing remedies of the past enables us to provide data which may help inform the current scientific paradigm, helping develop novel treatments from ancient wisdom. Data is published in a number of scientific journals and has received growing media attention, our last study being featured in Forbes. Information is also shared at scientific conferences, newspapers/ websites, podcasts and other media efforts. https://www.forbes.com/sites/amandasiebert/2021/06/28/first-ever-study-looks-at-ayahuascas-impact-on-dna-expression/

This September, .io are proud to join the in Girona as a community partner. 🌿🌎

From 9 - 13 September, Indigenous leaders and knowledge holders will gather alongside researchers, practitioners, artists and communities from around the world - creating a space for dialogue, relationship, culture, music and the meeting of different ways of knowing.

More than another psychedelic conference, the Forum offers an opportunity to listen, learn, build relationships and participate in conversations being shaped with Indigenous voices at their heart. 🤝✨

We’ll be there with the wider Onaya community and would love to see some of you in Girona.

This Sunday, we’ll be gathering around the fire at MEDICINE for a new space called ‘The Circle’. ⭕️

Hosted by Simon Ruffell and 蔚豐, ‘Bridging Cosmologies’ asks a simple and important question:

What happens when Western science and Indigenous cosmology come together?

This isn’t a panel or a debate. It’s an invitation into dialogue - bringing together researchers, clinicians, Indigenous knowledge holders, artists, and practitioners to explore how different ways of knowing can meet with curiosity, humility, and respect. 🌎🤝

We’re especially excited for this new experimental venue, created by Josh Dugdale, Alisa Reimer, and Sophie Docker - a space in the woodland dedicated to the conversations our time is asking of us, held in the round around the fire. 🔥

If you’re joining us at Medicine Festival, we’d love to see you there.

This September, something truly special will take place in Girona. 🌿🌎

The World Ayahuasca Forum is more than a conference. It is a historic convergence of Indigenous leaders, researchers, practitioners, artists, and communities coming together to explore the future of ayahuasca through dialogue, ceremony, science, culture, and relationship.

We’re honoured that Dr and Dr .tsang will be speaking at the Forum, joining conversations on Indigenous-Western collaboration, psychedelic science, and respectful bridge-building across knowledge systems. 🤝

A wider .io team will also be there, supporting and contributing throughout the Forum, including , Ros Stone, , and . We can’t wait to connect with old friends, meet new ones, and be part of this remarkable gathering.

This is not an annual event - it is a rare moment of convergence, and one we’re incredibly grateful to be part of.

In the news. 🌿

Dr Simon Ruffell was recently featured in TalkingDrugs - Global Reform News & Analysis reflecting on Colombia’s changing approach to drug policy and the significance of President Gustavo Petro openly speaking about his experiences with ayahuasca.

As Simon shares in the article, when public figures speak honestly about these experiences, it can help open the door to a different kind of conversation - one that moves beyond stigma and towards curiosity, nuance, and evidence. 🌎

The piece also explores Colombia’s evolving drug policy landscape, the legacy of the war on drugs, and what meaningful reform could look like in the years ahead.
