One of the things that makes our anatomy labs at the Plastinarium so special is the opportunity to learn from real human anatomy while also having comparative anatomy models right alongside us - and yes, the model in the video below was and is human tissue that has been plastinated… 

Time and again, participants tell us how much easier it is to understand anatomy when they can compare healthy tissues with tissues that have changed through injury, disease, age, or adaptation. It’s a chance to appreciate the incredible variation within the human body and to recognise subtle differences that most of us have only ever seen as illustrations in an anatomy textbook.

Seeing these structures in three dimensions, in real human specimens, transforms anatomy from something we memorise into something we truly understand.

There’s simply no substitute for standing in front of the real thing.

It’s one of the many reasons that every lab continues to leave even experienced therapists, movement professionals and healthcare practitioners seeing the human body with fresh eyes.

We’re incredibly excited to see our friend and colleague David Lesondak’s new book, The Fascial Connection, about to be released.

From the Anatomy Lab to the Yoga Mat

Today, while we’re immersed in the world of anatomy, Gary Carter is teaching yoga at a wonderful charity event (https://theyogagardenparty.com/ ) and it feels like the perfect reminder that anatomy isn’t just something to study… it’s something to live.

One of the things that makes Gary such an exceptional teacher is the way he seamlessly brings together what we discover in the anatomy lab with how we move, breathe and experience our bodies every day. His teaching isn’t simply about learning anatomy; it’s about embodying it.

Whether he’s guiding students through the intricacies of human anatomy in the lab or leading a yoga class, Gary has a remarkable ability to bridge science with movement, helping people develop a deeper understanding of the body from the inside out.

We hope everyone at today’s charity event has a fantastic day on the mat with Gary!
