Just noticed this cool feature on my training shoes reminding me to "engage the big toe"!
But I only need my big toe to stop me falling over? Absolutely not!
Big toe strength and mobility is crucial for firing up a whole chain of stability from the floor up into your glutes and core, which is useful for stabilising your pelvis (helping minimise back pain), improving an arch in your foot (helping to prevent plantar fasciatis) and helping you deadlift and squat heavy stuff safely. And we all know why we have to lift heavy stuff I hope.
So, next time your in the gym, engage your big toe by pressing it into the ground (harder, flatter soled shoes will really help). And then when your not at gbe gym experiment with some toe yoga, by lifting your toes individually and trying to spread yhem out! Maybe I'll do a post on that......I just don't want to encourage the random foot fe**sh stalker, because that's just annoying!
If you're a regular client of mine, you'll know how much I like to emphasise the importance of all of this so apologies for boring you even more. I was just really excited to notice this on my Under Armour shoe!
