Scavenger hunts are a fantastic way to do both! 🔎 They’re fun, motivating and can be used to help children understand and use a whole range of words.

You can target things like:

✨ Concepts – “Find something under the table.”
✨ Categories – “Can you find something we wear?”
✨ Following instructions – “Find something red and put it next to the door.”

As a mum, I know how challenging it can be to keep the kids entertained during the holidays – and how quickly the costs can add up!

I love this post. 💚 Getting outside is fantastic for children, and all of these ideas are simple, fun, and completely free.

From a speech and language perspective, it's also a great opportunity to build vocabulary. As you're exploring together, think about the new words you could model. You don't need to turn it into a lesson—just naturally talk about what you can see, hear, feel, and do.
